When viewing the Objectives Dashboard, you have the ability to filter by Objectives states and statuses. This article walks through the various states and statuses that an Objective can hold and what they mean.

Objective states
- Current: Includes objectives whose start date have passed and whose end date have not.
- Open: Includes objectives that are not closed/archived and whose dates overlap with the selected time period.
- Past due: Includes objectives whose end dates are in the past.
- Closed: Includes objectives that have been closed, typically as a result of the end date being in the past.
- Archived: Includes objectives that have been archived, typically as a result of the objective being irrelevant or where progress stopped before it really got started.
- Future: Includes objectives whose start dates fall in the future.
How to filter by state
- Click on Objectives in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation to open the Objectives Dashboard.
- Find the 'Objective state' filter at the top of the page and select your desired filter(s).
Objective statuses
In addition to states, objectives can hold statuses. An objective's status is set by the objective owner or other people who have permission to edit the objective, and are not in any way impacted by the objective's progress.
An objective can hold one of the following statuses:
- On track
- Behind
- At risk
- No status
How to update an objective's status
From the objective's details page
- Click on Objectives in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation to open the Objectives Dashboard.
- Use the filters at the top of the page to find the objective you want to update. If you own the objective, try using the 'My objectives' quick filter.
- Click on the objective's name to open the objective details page.
- Select the desired status at the top of the page, under 'Update status': Green for "On track," Yellow for "Behind," or Red for "At risk."
From within your Check-in
- Click on Check-ins in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation to open your current Check-in.
- Scroll down to the 'Objectives' section of your Check-in and find the objective whose status you want to update. Then, select a status.
