Create an Individual Development Plan

Overview

Individual Development Plans (IDPs) can be created by HR, managers, or employees (configurable in feature settings). This article walks through the steps to create a new IDP.

Before you begin

Make sure your admin has configured IDP templates and settings. If no templates are available, contact your admin.

Create an IDP from Growth Studio

  1. Navigate to Growth Studio in the left sidebar and click Plans.
  2. Click My Plans (for your own plan) or My Team's Plans (for a direct report).
  3. Click Draft plan.
  4. Select Individual Development Plan as the plan type, then choose an employee to create an IDP from the drop-down list, and click "Create draft".
  5. Choose a Start and End date.
  6. Choose an intent type (e.g., career growth, skill-building, promotion readiness).
  7. Optionally, you can connect the plan to competencies.
  8. Click the "Use a template"
  9. Fill in the plan details, including goals and action items.
  10. Click Done to save a draft, or Share IDP.

Create an IDP from the Talent Matrix

HR and managers can also create IDPs directly from the Talent Matrix in Explore:

  1. Navigate to Growth Studio > Explore.
  2. Click on an employee avatar in the Talent Matrix.
  3. In the right panel, click the three dots.
  4. Select Draft IDP.
  5. Follow the same steps to select a template, intent type, and fill in plan details.

Create IDPs in bulk

From the Talent Matrix, you can select multiple employees within a box and create IDPs for them in bulk using the same template.
