1-on-1 permissions and visibility

In this article, we will walk you through visibility and role-based permissions within 15Five's 1-on-1s feature.

In this article, you will learn...

Access and availability

⛔️ Required access to 1-on-1s.
👥 This article is relevant to all roles.
📦 This feature is available in the Perform, Total Platform, and Focus (legacy) pricing packages.

1-on-1 visibility

By default, only the two participants in a 1-on-1 can see the 1-on-1 agenda. Managers and account admins do not have any visibility into 1-on-1s they're not participants in. Furthermore, the "Private notes" section of a person's 1-on-1 agenda is private to them alone.

The exception to this rule is that if your company has global viewers for 1-on-1s, those individuals have full visibility into all 1-on-1 agendas. Please note that the global viewer role is typically granted to HR leaders, and can be granted by an account admin reaching out to 15Five's Support Team.

Role-based permissions

Employees
  • Create, schedule, and end a 1-on-1 with anyone in the company
  • Star or unstar any 1-on-1 from their 'My 1-on-1s' list
  • Remove a 1-on-1 from their 'My 1-on-1s' list
  • Delete a 1-on-1 they're a participant in
  • Add talking points and action items to 1-on-1s they're a participant in
  • Add items from their own Check-in to the 1-on-1 agenda with their direct manager
  • Add to shared notes and their private notes
Managers

Everything employees can do, plus...

  • Automatically generate 1-on-1s with their direct reports, meaning their direct reports will always appear in the 1-on-1s list without either participant having to manually create 1-on-1s time and time again
  • See the identity of people their direct reports are having 1-on-1s with (but not the content)
  • Report on 1-on-1s usage data for their team
Account admins

Everything employees can do, plus...

  • See the identities of all 1-on-1 participants in the company (but not the content)
  • Report on 1-on-1s usage data for the company
    ✏️

    Note

Although account admins can report on 1-on-1s usage data, they can not see the content of 1-on-1s that they themselves did not participate in.

Global viewers

Everything employees can do, plus...

  • See all 1-on-1 agendas for everyone in the company
  • See the identities of all 1-on-1 participants in the company
  • Report on 1-on-1s usage data for the company
