What are Compensation Insights? 💡

Compensation Insights connect compensation data with performance and engagement outcomes—so you can see how pay practices are impacting your people and make more equitable, strategic talent decisions. These insights live in the HR Outcomes Dashboard and help you uncover trends, identify risks, and bring critical context to decisions around retention, performance, and pay equity.

The following compensation insights are available on the HR Outcomes Dashboard:

Compensation Fairness Insight
Understand how employees feel about pay equity—and where perceptions differ based on actual compensation.

Use this insight to understand how employees feel about fairness in their compensation, segmented by market rate category.

📊 What it shows: How employees responded to the engagement statement: “I feel the rewards I get are equitable given the work I do,” broken down by market category: above, at, or below market rate.

🎯 Why it matters: This insight reveals how employees’ perception of fairness changes based on whether they’re paid above, at, or below market rate. Use it to identify where below-market compensation may be undermining engagement—and to make the case for more equitable, data-backed pay decisions.

Compa-Ratio Column
Compare individual compensation to market benchmarks—right alongside performance data.

Use the compa-ratio column on the Performance Dashboard to see how each employee’s pay compares to market benchmarks—right alongside their performance designation.

📊 What it shows: Each employee’s compa-ratio—or how their compensation compares to market value (expressed as a percentage)—next to their performance designation in the latest review cycle.

🎯 Why it matters: This insight helps you quickly spot where compensation may not align with performance. For example, you might uncover high performers who are paid below market, signaling a potential retention risk. Use this visibility to ensure fair pay across performance levels and bring market context intotalent decisions like calibration, promotions, and retention planning.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) ❓

What is 15Five Compensation Insights?

15Five Compensation Insights is a new feature that integrates compensation data with performance, engagement, and retention metrics within the 15Five platform. It provides HR leaders with data-driven insights to understand the impact of compensation on their workforce.

How does Compensation Insights help with retention risk?

Compensation Insights helps identify retention risk by showing if employees, especially critical talent in high-impact roles, are being pushed out due to compensation gaps. For example, it highlights that 50% of voluntary leavers were paid below market rates and identifies current underpaid employees at risk of turnover.

Can Compensation Insights help me understand the link between pay and performance?

Yes. Compensation Insights provides data to help you understand if there's a measurable link between compensation and high performance, and if your top performers are compensated appropriately. It shows that high performers are 2.3 times more likely to have a compa-ratio above 1.05.

How does Compensation Insights address pay equity?

Compensation Insights helps you understand how perceived pay equity affects engagement scores and voluntary attrition rates. It visualizes how pay compares to fairness perception, indicating that employees with below-market compensation report more unfavorable perceptions of equitable rewards, while perceptions improve significantly as compa-ratio increases.

Where does the fairness perception data come from?

The fairness perception data is sourced from your latest Engagement campaign, specifically the statement “I feel the rewards I get are equitable given the work I do.

What does "Perception Unmeasured" mean?

These are individuals who didn't participate in the latest engagement survey.

Why don’t I see data in a Compensation Insight when I apply certain filters?

To protect employee confidentiality, Compensation Insights will only populate when a group meets the minimum confidentiality threshold for engagement surveys. If you filter the dashboard by a group that doesn’t meet this threshold, the insight will remain blank or hidden. Try adjusting your filters to include a larger group or check that enough employees responded to the engagement survey.
