Why didn't I get a full Focus Brief this week?

This article explains why you received a short message instead of a full Focus Brief. It applies to employees and managers who receive Focus Briefs.

Direct Answer

You were out of office for most or all of the period your brief covers, so Focus Brief sent you a short message instead of a full brief.

Key Rules

  • Time-off handling is on for every company that uses Focus Briefs.
  • The period is the brief's lookback window: the previous 7 days for weekly briefs, or the previous 14 days for biweekly briefs.
  • Time off is counted in working days. Days out are added together across the period, even when they are not in a row.
  • Company holidays count as time off, the same as personal time off.
  • A half day out counts as half a day.
  • The short message says you have been out. It does not coach you on a period you were away.
  • When you were working for most of the period, you get a full brief as usual.
  • When a direct report is out, the manager's brief says so in that person's section. This keeps time away from being read as disengagement.

Common Misunderstanding

A short message does not mean Focus Briefs stopped working for you. If you got no brief and no message, see Troubleshoot Focus Brief delivery.
