Filter review results by demographic attributes

👥 Only HR admins can filter review results by demographic attributes.

HR teams can filter Company Results by demographic data (including Gender, Race, Ethnicity, Salary, Age, and Tenure) to uncover any potential areas that might need a closer look. This allows HR to approach the subject objectively, with a data-driven approach, and save hours from manually cross comparing data.

Prerequisites

For HR admins to be able to filter review results by demographic attributes, the following steps must be taken:

  • Enable demographic attributes
  • Populate demographic attributes for employees
  • Grant visibility into demographic attributes

Please refer to our "Demographic Attributes overview" Help Center article for steps on how to do these things.

Filter by demographic attributes

HR admins can use the 'Demographic & people data' filter to filter the 'Summary' page of company review results by Gender, Race, Ethnicity, Age, and Tenure.

  1. Click on Best-Self Review® in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation bar.

  2. Click on the name of the review cycle you want to view results in to open the cycle's Overview page.

  3. If you don't have an administrative role in the review cycle, click into the 'Team's results' tab. It is at the top of your page, to the right of Overview, Peer nominations, etc.
If you have an administrative role in the review cycle, click into the 'Company's results' tab.

  4. You'll land on the 'Summary' tab of review results. Towards the top of the page, next to the 'People' filter, you'll see a 'Demographics & people data' filter.

Pro Tip: If the Demographics & people data filter appears grayed out, that means there was no demographic data in the system at cycle kickoff. Don't worry, you can refresh the demographic data by navigating to the Overview > settings cog > refresh demographic data. You can take this action at any time while a review cycle is active. When a review cycle ends, the demographic data will automatically refresh.

  1. Select your filters. Click into the 'Demographics & people data' filter to see available filtering options. Options are separated by attribute (Age, Ethnicity, Gender, Race, Salary, and Tenure), and filters selected here will apply to the entire summary page. Some things to note as you select filters:

    • If you select more than one data point within an attribute (for example, if you filter by race and select both “Black” and “Hispanic”), the data on the page will include results for all Black or Hispanic people.
    • If you select more than one data point across different attributes (for example, if you filter by gender and select “Female” and also filter by race and select “White”), the filter works a bit differently, displaying all results for people who are both female and white.
    • If there aren't any employees with a specific attribute value, that option will not exist in the filter dropdown. For example, if your company doesn’t have any employees whose race is listed as Asian, then there will be no option to select “Asian” in the filter dropdown.
  2. In the 'Private Manager Assessment' and 'Talent Matrix' sections of the 'Summary' page, you can also select an attribute under 'Compare by attribute' to view results by that attribute.

Create and manage preset filters

Preset filters allow you to save specific filter options for use. Preset filters will include options selected in both the 'People' and 'Demographics & people data' filters. HR admins have the ability to share preset filters they create with other HR admins, so your team can easily filter by important segments.

  1. Create a preset filter. Select desired filtering options using the 'People' and/or 'Demographics & people data' filters, then click the Presets button in the filter bar and select 'Save current as preset' from the dropdown menu.

  2. A popup will appear. Here, name your preset and select whether or not you want to share it with other HR admins. Then, click Save preset.
