Prerequisites for using Talent Matrix
To use the Talent Matrix, the following criteria must be met:
- Your company must have an in-progress or ended review cycle that includes manager reviews
- At least one manager review must be submitted in the review cycle
- The questions used in your review cycle must contain yes/no or opinion-scale questions
- All opinion scale questions in question templates MUST be from left to right, otherwise, ratings and talent matrix just won’t give you an accurate picture of performance
Assess employee performance using the Talent Matrix
- Click on Best-Self Review® in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation.
- Click on the name of the review cycle you wish to view results for.
- Open the "Company's Results" tab using the top navigation.
- Scroll down to the Talent Matrix section.
Note
The Talent Matrix will not appear until at least one manager has shared review results with a review cycle participant.
- Use the dropdown menus to select what data you want to appear on the X and Y axes. Options are opinion scale questions, yes/no questions, and Performance Ratings.
- The X and Y axes of the Talent Matrix will show the answer choices from the questions you selected, with participants appearing in the boxes that reflect the answers they received.
Note
Only participants whose managers have submitted and shared results will appear on the Talent Matrix. Talent Matrix results will change as managers submit and edit reviews. Hover over # Participants at the bottom of the matrix to see the names of participants whose results don't appear in the Talent Matrix. Only the participants whose managers answered and shared the question(s) will appear in the matrix.
- Once the matrix is populated, you can dig into your high, medium, and low performers using the matrix.
Additional capabilities
Download a CSV or XLSX to see all participants in the cycle, how their manager answered the two questions selected in the Talent Matrix, what box the participants fall into, and more.
If desired, you can save a selection of filters as a preset. Filter presets allow you to save and reuse specific filter selections, including options from both the 'People' and 'Demographics & people data' filters. HR admins can also share preset filters with other HR admins, enabling your team to easily filter by key segments. Learn more.
Shortnames allow you to rename any question in the X & Y-axis selection dropdowns, making it easier to customize and identify questions.
To create or edit a shortname, follow these steps:
- Click on the X or Y-axis selection field and select "Edit question short names" at the bottom of the dropdown menu.
- Choose the question you want to create or change a short name for.
- Use the "Question short name" field to provide a shortname. Then, click Save.
- The shortname will be immediately reflected in the Talent Matrix.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Only review admins and cycle collaborators have access to the Talent Matrix. Additionally, the Talent Matrix will not appear until at least one manager has shared review results with a review cycle participant.
Yes/No and Opinion-Scale questions from all sections of manager reviews (Private Manager Assessment, Performance Rating+, Company Values, Competencies, Objectives, Manager Effectiveness, Growth and Development) can be used in the Talent Matrix.
Yes. Everyone will have the same view in the Talent Matrix when it comes to the questions and short names for those questions. If a review admin changes the short names, they will change for everyone.
Best-Self Review®️ reporting, including the Talent Matrix, populates as reviews are submitted. If those reviews are edited and then resubmitted, reporting will update. However, if a review is being calibrated, any changes made during the calibration session will not appear outside of that calibration session until all calibration sessions for this cycle are locked. This includes reporting (including Talent Matrix) and the review itself.
