Generate a team summary with Manager Copilot

Effective managers play a pivotal role in helping organizations achieve their HR outcomes. With that in mind, we created Manager Copilot: an assistant powered by 15Five's Spark AI that helps managers be more effective...and makes their lives easier! Using data from across the 15Five platform, Manager Copilot generates a summary of how a manager's team is doing and suggests actions and best practices proven to increase employee engagement, performance, and retention. With Manager Copilot, managers save time tracking down important data points and receive real-time recommendations on where to focus their attention — so they can get back to what matters most.

Frequently Asked Questions

What data points does Spark look at to generate a summary?

To generate a summary of your team, Spark looks at data points from across the 15Five platform that are correlated with manager effectiveness and proven to have a big impact on your team’s growth, performance, and engagement. Those data points are:

  • Last 1-on-1: The last time you held a 1-on-1 with the person.
    ⭐️ Employees whose managers hold regular meetings with them are almost three times as likely to be engaged as employees whose managers do not hold regular meetings with them.
  • Last recognized by you: The last time you recognized the person by giving them a high five.
    ⭐️ Studies show that employees are more motivated to work hard when their boss shows appreciation for them.
  • Average goals on track: The average percentage of Objectives owned by the person that have an "on track" status. Employees are required to set a status for their objectives as they fill out Check-ins.
    ⭐️ Classic research shows again and again that goals are extremely effective at increasing motivation and performance in organizations— outcomes that impact your organization's bottom line.
  • Average Pulse: The average Pulse answer that the person has provided when filling out recent Check-ins. The Pulse question asks, "How did you feel at work since your last Check-in?" on a 1-5 scale.
    ⭐️ Research shows that it's important to become aware of when we're happy at work so we can clearly identify the type of work that makes us feel great— which is usually work that builds on our strengths. Conversely, it's important to be aware of times employees are less happy and identify the work issues and/or roadblocks employees are facing.
What timeframes for data are used to generate a team summary?
  • For engagement, we use Check-ins Pulse data for the last month only.
  • For objectives, we pull the current state of active objectives.
  • For 1-on-1s and Recognition (i.e. High Fives), we pull the latest few occurrences of those events and summarize the frequency regardless of when they happened.

This data is then processed using AI.

How will Manager Copilot continue to be developed?

In 2024, our Product Team will be working on expanding the functionality of Manager Copilot. Some of the capabilities we're working on are:

  • Recommending relevant Transform Microlearning courses to help managers develop skills;
  • Helping managers review their direct report's Check-ins (released);
  • Giving managers summaries of their team's 1-on-1s or goal progress;
  • Recommending relevant talking points for 1-on-1 agendas (released);
  • Navigating to different areas of the 15Five platform (e.g. 1-on-1s, Team's Check-ins, High Fives Dashboard).
How does Manager Copilot tie into the HR Outcomes Flywheel?

15Five's HR Outcomes Flywheel connects all the things you're doing in HR in a continuous, accelerating flywheel to improve the outcomes that matter most to your company: maximizing employee performance, increasing employee engagement, and decreasing regrettable turnover.

Manager Copilot take Signals from across the 15Five platform (i.e. last 1-on-1, last recognized by you, average goals on track, average Pulse) to identify the Actions you can take in 15Five to drive outcomes on your team (e.g. "Hold more frequent 1-on-1s with your direct reports").
