Access my direct report's Career Hub answers

15Five's Career Hub feature is a simple, powerful way for managers and their team members to co-create a strengths-driven career vision that keeps employees motivated and energized. In this article, we'll walk managers through how to view the answers provided in each tab of their teams' Career Hub. Answers in each tab are not visible until the direct report manually shares them with their manager.

Access my direct report’s Career Hub answers

Once your direct report fills out their Career Hub and shares answers with you, you can see their answers using the steps below. After you review the answers, we recommend holding a 1-on-1 meeting with your direct report to discuss findings and make a plan moving forward.

  1. Click Career Hub in 15Five's main, lefthand navigation.

  2. Under "Team", click the name of the employee whose Career Hub you'd like to view.

  3. You're now in your employee's Career Hub. From here, you can view their answers for each section using the tabs at the top of the page. Continue reading for an overview of what information is contained in each tab.

  4. The Overview tab contains quick links to relevant resources and a progress tracker that allows you to see your direct report's Career Hub progress. The following actions are available in this tab:
    Open your direct report's profile

    Open your direct report's profile by clicking View profile in the top, right-hand corner of the page. A person's profile allows you to quickly learn about them through their answers to science-backed questions designed to help employees foster meaningful connections, review their recent activity, and see their teammates, group memberships, and followers. Learn more.

    Open your Best-Self Kickoff

    Open your Best-Self Kickoff with your direct report by clicking the Best-Self Kickoff quick link. 15Five's Best-Self Kickoff is a strategic meeting that aims to help employees and managers understand each other and their work needs, building a stronger working relationship. We recommend that managers hold Best-Self Kickoffs with their team before utilizing Career Hub. Learn how!

    View your direct report's Career Hub progress

    As your direct report fills out their Career Hub, they can use the Career Discovery Progress tracker to share which tasks they've completed in each tab. This progress tracker must be updated manually and does not automatically update as employees fill out their Career Hub.

  5. The Role clarity tab helps your direct report clarify their current role and identify the type of work that’s most energizing to them so they can define what they want in a career. The following actions are available in this tab:

    At the top of the page, you will see icons outlining manager goals in the Role clarity tab: Ensure role clarity, Maximize energizing work, and Spot their strengths. Click Flip in the bottom, right-hand corner of a goal box to read more about it.

    View your direct report's job title and description

    The "Job title & description" section is pre-populated with your employee's job title as it appears in their settings. If you or an account administrator has uploaded a job description for their role it will also appear in this section.

    See how energizing your direct report finds their job

    The "Job responsibilities" and "Projects & tasks" sections of this page enable you to work with your employee to identify ways to maximize energizing work that also aligns with their career goals and business needs.
    In the “Job responsibilities" section, your direct report reflects on the responsibilities laid out in their job description and how energizing they find them. This section is pre-populated with any job responsibilities that account admins have added for the role.

    In the “Projects & tasks" section, your direct report will add additional projects and tasks they work on that may not be accounted for in their job responsibilities above and reflect on how energizing they find them.

    If anything's missing from either the "Job responsibilities" or "Projects & tasks" sections, you and your direct report can add elements by clicking the +Add button in the top, right-hand corner of the section.

    Did you know?

    Employees who have role clarity are 53% more efficient and 27% more effective than their counterparts, but only 50% of employees know what’s expected of them at work.

  6. The Strengths tab is where your direct report reflects on their top strengths, values, interests, and passions so they can leverage them in their role. The following actions are available in this tab:
    See the strengths your direct report added

    The "Top Strengths" section contains all the strengths that your employee added for themselves. The five strengths they identified as their top strengths appear at the top of the page.

    Employees can add strengths based on self-assessment or from official strengths assessments like VIA Character Strengths.

    You can comment on a strength by clicking the dialogue bubble button to its right.

    See your direct report's values, passions, and interests

    At the bottom of the page, you can view your direct report's values, passions, and interests. Values are the things that are most important to the employee at work. Passions & Interests are activities or topics that deeply interest them at work and in life. An ideal role for your direct report would incorporate as much of their strengths, values, passions, and interests as possible.

  7. The Career vision tab is a space for your direct report to explore their career vision and craft an aspirational role that aligns with their top strengths, values, and passions. The following actions are available in this tab:

    At the top of the page, you will see icons outlining manager goals in the Career vision tab: Support strengths-based conversations, Provide resources for exploration, and Discuss your team member's vision. Click Flip in the bottom, right-hand corner of a goal box to read more about it.

    View your direct report's career exploration

    The "Exploration" section allows your direct report to reflect on their ideal day (where they think back to a time they most enjoyed work and list specifics), things they want to do more (where they create a list of responsibilities that energize them the most, including any strengths, values, and passions they want to explore and leverage more in their role), and things they want to do less (where they create a list of responsibilities that de-energize them and list specifics).

    View your direct report's aspirational role information

    The "Aspirational role" section contains your direct report's aspirational job title and job description, which they can use as a north star for what they want to work toward.

    Did you know?

    Job crafting is significantly and positively related to employee performance, meaning, and engagement.

  8. The Growth plan tab allows you to see self-development goals that your direct report created to help them reach their career aspirations. The following actions are available in this tab:
    View growth plans created by your direct report

    Growth plans are self-development objectives that employees can create to drive their career growth and increase meaning and purpose. In the growth plan chart, you can see any growth plans your employee has created. Learn more about growth plans.

    View current and completed objectives your direct report owns

    For additional context about what your direct report is working on and achieved, you can check the "Business" and "Completed" boxes at the bottom of the growth plan chart to see current and completed objectives.
