Visibility is always a sensitive subject, especially when it comes to reviews. What reviews are visible? To whom? At what time do they become visible? These are all valid questions that vary from review to review. Keep reading to learn more about the default visibility settings and the optional visibility settings around Reviews.
Note
The level of visibility will depend on the review settings that were in place before the cycle began. Options for visibility include Hierarchy and Basic. No matter which visibility option you choose, reviews become visible to review admins when submitted. Manager visibility will depend on which review was submitted and whether it needs to be routed through their manager before shared.

Visibility of each review type based on status
⭐️ Self reviews become visible to managers, review admins, and possibly anyone above the employee in the reporting hierarchy once they have been submitted by the employee- even if the self review deadline has not passed.
For more information on the role of participant, check out our article What to expect: I'm a participant.
⭐️ Peer reviews become visible to managers, review admins, and possibly anyone above the employee in the reporting hierarchy, once they have been submitted by the peer.
Peer reviews become visible to the participant once their manager decides to 'Share results', usually after the final meeting. The level of visibility for peer reviews depends on the settings that were in place before the review began- Basic or Hierarchy.
Review admins cannot see the identities of their own peer reviews if the settings are partially or fully anonymous; ie review admins will not be able to see who wrote what for their own peer reviews because of their role as review admin.
⭐️ Upward reviews become visible to the manager-being-reviewed's manager and review admins once they have been submitted by the direct report.
Upward reviews become visible to your immediate manager once their manager decides to 'Share results'. The level of visibility for upward reviews depends on the settings that were in place before the review began- Basic or Hierarchy.
For example: I am one of Charlotte's employees. I submit my upward review of Charlotte. Charlotte's manager is notified that I submitted the upward review and can view my comments. Once Charlotte's manager clicks 'Share results', Charlotte will be able to see my upward review of her.
Review admins cannot see the identities of their own upward reviews if the settings are partially or fully anonymous; ie review admins will not be able to see who wrote what for their own upward reviews because of their role as review admin.
⭐️ Manager reviews become visible to the participant once the manager decides to 'Share results'.
Manager reviews become visible to review admins (and the participant's hierarchy if visibility is hierarchy) once shared in the Summary- not at the time of submission. This is because manager reviews can be edited up until shared.
Private manager assessment answers are visible to the manager completing the manager review and review administrators only. Private manager assessment reporting is not available until the results have been shared. It is important to note that private manager assessment answers are editable up until finalized—so keep this in mind when pulling reports.

⭐️ The Summary becomes visible to the participant once their manager decides to 'Share results'. Manager reviews, including private manager assessment answers, become visible to review admins at that time also.
