15Five's Feedback feature allows individuals to request or share feedback on specific topics from coworkers. In this article, we'll walk through how to request feedback using the Feedback tool, as well as walk through best practices for receiving meaningful feedback from your colleagues.

Request feedback
- Click on Feedback in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation.
- Click on the orange Request feedback button in the top, right-hand corner of the page.
- Use the "Who would you like feedback from?" dropdown menu to select one or more person to request feedback from. To get the full perspective and an unbiased feedback loop, we suggest requesting feedback from multiple people about the same topic.
- Use the "What would you like feedback about?" field to describe what you want feedback on— whether it be a project, presentation, or general topic. You may want to add specific questions to the end of your description to guide the responders.
- If you'd like for your direct manager to have visibility into feedback you receive, check the box next to "Share feedback with your manager". By default, only you and the person that shares feedback has visibility into the feedback.
- Finish the process by clicking Send request. After clicking this button, the person(s) you requested feedback from will receive a notification.
Note
If a feedback request has not been replied to within 14 days, the request will expire.
If your company is integrated with Slack you can request (and provide) feedback without ever leaving Slack. If you are unsure whether or not your company is using the Slack integration or if you cannot get the Slack command to work, reach out to one of your account admins.
- Open any channel or direct chat in Slack.
- Type the command /request-feedback and send the message. Nothing will post in the channel or direct chat, but a "Request Feedback" popup will appear.
- Use the "Who would you like feedback from?" dropdown menu to select one or more people to request feedback from. To get the full perspective and an unbiased feedback loop, we suggest requesting feedback from multiple people about the same topic.
- Use the "What would you like feedback about?" field to describe what you want feedback on— whether it be a project, presentation, or general topic. You may want to add specific questions to the end of your description to guide the responders.
- If you'd like for your direct manager to have visibility into feedback you receive, select "Yes" from the dropdown menu under "Share feedback with your manager". By default, only you and the person that shares feedback have visibility into the feedback.
- Finish the request by clicking Submit request. After clicking this button, the person(s) you requested feedback from will be notified.
How to ask for meaningful feedback
With 15Five’s Feedback feature, you’re able to get specific and define the type of feedback you’re looking for. That way, you can get a more accurate and holistic view of your performance and know exactly what to do to improve it.
Here are 5 tips to keep in mind when asking for feedback:
- The more feedback, the better. To get an unbiased view, you should ask multiple people for feedback whose perspectives differ from yours.
- Be specific. Are you looking for positive or constructive feedback—or both?
- Don’t wait too long to ask. Asking for feedback immediately following a project or event has the greatest impact.
- Stay open-minded. Evaluation can be tough, but it’s a necessary part of growth and development.
- Follow up. Feedback isn’t a one-way street, so reach back out to those who offered great advice and show how they’ve helped you improve.
