Growth Studio - Talent Matrix

The Talent Matrix in Growth Studio's Explore workspace is an always-available 9-box grid that helps HR leaders and managers visualize talent distribution, identify gaps, and take action.

Unlike the review-cycle Talent Matrix, the Explore Talent Matrix is accessible at any time—not just during active review cycles. This closes the gap between performance insights and what happens next, providing a structured, trackable place inside 15Five to act on talent data.

Who can access the Talent Matrix

  • HR / Admin: Org-wide view of all employees; can tag critical roles.
  • Manager: Their direct and indirect reports (full hierarchy).
  • Employees: No access.

View the Talent Matrix

  1. Navigate to "Growth Studio" in the left sidebar.
  2. Click "Explore."
  3. The Talent Matrix displays as a 9-box grid with employees placed based on their most recent review cycle ratings.
  4. You can filter this data by Review cycle, People, Groups, and attributes.

Take action from the Talent Matrix

Click on any employee avatar in the Talent Matrix to:

  • View active plans: See current Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
  • Create a new IDP: Kick off collaborative development plans for skill-building or promotion readiness.
  • Create a new PIP: Initiate a governed improvement plan with locked dates and audit logs.
  • View performance history: See previous review data to inform planning.
  • Succession Planning: Use the matrix to identify candidates for critical roles and document nominations.

Note

You can create plans in bulk by selecting multiple employees within a specific Talent Matrix box to ensure no talent gaps are left unaddressed.
