Review Admins can configure Performance Ratings+ at the feature level to control whether ratings are enabled, who can see them, and whether additional manager reviews factor into calculations. Settings saved here become the default for all future review cycles.
Required access: Review Admin role. Available on Perform and Total Platform pricing packages.
Before You Begin
Navigate to the Performance Ratings+ settings panel before starting any section below:
- Click the Settings gear in the bottom-left corner.
- Select Features from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll to the Performance Reviews section and click to open it.
- Find the Performance Ratings+ section and click the arrow to expand it.
Enable or disable Performance Ratings+
When Performance Ratings+ is disabled, the option to include performance ratings does not appear during cycle creation.
- Complete the steps in Before You Begin.
- Check or uncheck the box next to Enable performance ratings.
- Click Save.
Success state: When enabled, Review Admins see the option to include or exclude performance ratings during cycle creation. When disabled, that option does not appear.
Manage participant visibility
Review Admins, Cycle Collaborators, a participant's direct manager, additional managers, and review viewers always have visibility into performance ratings. Use this setting to control whether participants can see their own rating.
- Complete the steps in Before You Begin.
- In the Who can see performance rating? section, select one option:
- Performance rating is visible to review participants — participants can see their rating when results are shared by their manager or a Cycle Collaborator. - Performance rating is hidden from review participants — participants cannot see their rating anywhere in 15Five.
- Click Save.
Success state: The selected option is saved and becomes the default for future cycles. During cycle creation, Review Admins can still override this setting for individual cycles.
Manage hierarchy visibility
A participant's manager hierarchy (their manager's manager, and so on) can only see performance ratings if hierarchy visibility is enabled. This setting also expands visibility for all review results — not only performance ratings — to the participant's hierarchy.
- Complete the steps in Before You Begin.
- Scroll to the Visibility settings section and click the arrow to expand it.
- Select the Hierarchy visibility option.
- Click Save.
Success state: The setting is saved and becomes the default for future cycles. During cycle creation, Review Admins can still override this setting for individual cycles.
Include additional manager reviews in ratings calculation
Additional managers are people other than a participant's direct manager who write a manager review for that participant. This setting controls whether their reviews are included in the performance rating calculation.
- Complete the steps in Before You Begin.
- Check the box next to Include additional manager reviews in rating calculation.
- Click Save.
Success state: The setting is saved and becomes the default for future cycles. During cycle creation, Review Admins can still override this setting for individual cycles.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Enable performance ratings checkbox does not appear | Confirm you have navigated to Performance Ratings+ and expanded it — not the parent Performance Reviews section | Collapse and re-expand the Performance Ratings+ arrow; if it still does not appear, contact 15Five support |
| Saved setting does not persist after clicking Save | Confirm your role is Review Admin — Cycle Collaborators cannot modify feature-level settings | Log out and log back in; if the setting reverts, contact 15Five support |
| Participants can still see their rating after setting Hidden | Check whether the individual cycle was configured with a different visibility override during cycle creation | Open the cycle settings and verify the participant visibility option at the cycle level |
| Hierarchy cannot see ratings despite Hierarchy visibility being enabled | Confirm results have been shared with the hierarchy in the cycle settings | Check cycle-level sharing settings and reshare if needed |
