Configure AI features for a review cycle (Admin) (Beta)

HR Admins and Company Admins can override global AI Assisted Reviews settings for any individual review cycle. This lets you run a specific subset of AI capabilities, test a lighter configuration with a new team, or disable AI for a cycle type that doesn't need it — all without changing company-wide defaults.

This article applies to organizations enrolled in the AI Assisted Reviews beta. If your organization uses the current AI Assist experience, see Configure 15Five AI feature settings.

Before you begin

  • You must be an HR Admin or Company Admin.
  • AI Assisted Reviews must be enabled globally in the Agents Hub. See Set up AI Assisted Reviews (Admin) (Beta).

Access cycle-level AI settings

  1. Select Reviews in the left navigation.
  2. Find the active cycle you want to configure.
  3. Open the three-dot menu next to the cycle.
  4. Select Edit review cycle.
  5. Scroll to the 15Five AI for this cycle section at the bottom of the page.

Enable or disable AI for this cycle

Toggle the agent on or off for this cycle. When on, 15Five AI assists reviewers during this cycle. When off, reviewers see the standard review experience with no AI features.

Global agent settings apply to all future cycles by default. Changing the toggle here affects only this cycle.

Toggle individual features

Each AI feature can be turned on or off independently for this cycle:

Feature What it controls
Built-in writing guidance to help structure responses Enables the Suggestions panel, Improve writing actions, and the Chat assistant in the Write phase
15Five AI highlights strengths and surfaces observations from context Enables Moments in the Reflect phase — the sourced evidence reviewers engage with before writing
Manager coaching for review conversations Enables the Conversation Guide in the Discuss phase — agenda, talking points, and prep for the performance 1:1
Auto-generated IDPs Enables IDP creation from the Conversation Guide at the end of a review cycle

Important: Disabling Manager coaching for review conversations automatically disables Auto-generated IDPs. The IDP feature depends on the Conversation Guide to generate development plans.

Set the performance period

The performance period defines the date range that AI Assisted Reviews draws from. Set it during cycle creation:

  1. In the cycle creation flow, locate the Performance period section.
  2. Set the start date and end date for the time frame this cycle covers.

AI Assisted Reviews pulls data only from within these dates when surfacing Moments and drafting reviews. This might be the previous quarter, half-year, or 12 months depending on how your organization runs reviews.

Note: If no performance period is set, the context layer uses the employee's full history. Setting a performance period ensures the AI works from the time frame that matters for this cycle.

How cycle-level settings interact with global settings

  • Cycle-level settings override global settings for that cycle only.
  • Changes to cycle-level settings do not change the global defaults.
  • New cycles created after a global change inherit the updated global settings.
  • If a cycle-level override is removed, the cycle reverts to the current global setting.
