Where do Amaya's answers come from?

This article explains what Amaya reads when it answers a question, and how you can see where an answer came from.

Direct Answer

Amaya answers from your organization's 15Five data, any files you attach to the conversation, and 15Five Help Center content for how-to questions.

Key Rules

  • Amaya reads these 15Five data sources when they are turned on in your account:
    • Engagement surveys: eNPS scores and quantitative statement-level responses
    • Custom surveys: results from custom Engage surveys
    • Performance Reviews: quantitative and open-text responses
    • Turnover: employee termination date and attributes
    • Check-ins and 1-on-1s: high-level usage signals
    • Employee attributes: team, department, tenure, and role
    • 15Five platform knowledge: a curated library that helps Amaya interpret your data in context
  • Open-text analysis covers performance reviews only. Amaya returns themes, sentiment, and representative quotes from review answers.
  • Amaya does not analyze open-text answers from engagement surveys, Check-ins, or 1-on-1s.
  • Amaya reads files you attach to a conversation.
  • Amaya answers how-to questions about using 15Five from 15Five Help Center content.
  • If Amaya hands your question to Fin, Fin does not receive your Amaya conversation. Explain your question again to Fin.
  • Where applicable, Amaya shows the sources behind an answer, so you can follow it back to the underlying record.
  • Amaya uses your existing 15Five permissions. It never shows data you could not already see in 15Five.
  • Amaya respects engagement survey confidentiality.

Common Misunderstanding

Amaya does not read engagement survey comments. For themes from engagement survey comments, use AI Synthesized Feedback Insights in the engagement Feedback report. See Can Amaya analyze open-text responses from engagement surveys?.
