Through product research, we've found that modern HR teams need a way to identify high-performing employees in their organization so they can work towards retaining top talent. With this in mind, we created a private "high potential" attribute in employee profiles that HR admins can use to identify employees that have the potential to make a big impact on the organization. This field can only be seen and managed by HR admins.

How to Mark Employees as High Potential 🧑💻
- Click People in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation.
- You are now on the "Manage People" page. From here, find the person you want to mark as high potential and click on their name to open their individual account settings.
- Scroll down to the "Private attributes" section and check the box next to "[Name] is a high potential employee".
-
Save your changes using the button at the bottom of the individual's account settings page.
- Click People in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation.
- Open the "Import" tab in the top navigation bar.
- Download your company's current employment structure by clicking the Download current structure button at the top of the page.
Tip
We suggest downloading two copies of your current structure: one to make edits to and upload, and another to keep in a safe place for re-upload in case any unintended changes are made.
-
Prepare your bulk import CSV. The only required columns are your Employee Identifier (email or employee_id) and is_high_potential. Put a Y in the is_high_potential column for any individuals you want to mark as high potential.
Note
Make sure the Employee Identifier (employee ID or email) shown at the bottom of the page matches the identifier you used in your CSV file. If it doesn’t, you can update your organization's default identifier. Learn how →
-
Upload your CSV. Click Choose file at the bottom of the import page and select your saved CSV (must be in UTF-8 CSV format).
- On the Preview import screen, review the pending changes. If something looks off, click Start over in the bottom-left corner to cancel the import and return to the bulk import page.
- Click Finish import. Depending on the size of your CSV, it may take up to 15 minutes for the import to complete.
- Once complete, updates will appear in 15Five.
How the Attribute is Used in 15Five ⭐️
You can utilize the high potential attribute in the following ways:
HR admins can see if an individual is marked as high potential from within their account settings.
HR admins can filter the HR Outcomes Dashboard to display outcomes scores and insights for employees who are marked as high potential.
Note
In the future, we plan to expand the high potential feature— allowing you to filter engagement survey results, performance review results, Pulse scores, and more to see how your high-potential employees are doing. Keep an eye out for future releases in the Releases section of our Help Center.
