Before you begin: Check-in frequency rules to keep in mind
In 15Five you can customize how frequently Check-ins are generated for an individual, a group, or for the entire company. With that in mind, there are some rules that you should be aware of.
- By default, everyone in your company will be set to follow your company's default Check-in frequency, including people who are newly-added to 15Five. However, the company-wide Check-in setting will not always impact everyone, as group settings and individual settings override the company settings. If you haven't set a custom company-wide Check-in frequency, Check-ins are set to be due weekly on Fridays by default.
- It’s best to make a frequency change at the beginning of a Check-in period, before anyone has started filling out or submitting their Check-ins. Making changes in the middle of a Check-in period can result in deleted or duplicate Check-ins. If this happens, please reach out to our Support Team at support@15five.com.
- If an individual is not part of a group that has a custom Check-in frequency set, they will follow the company’s default Check-in frequency, or their frequency can be customized in their individual account settings.
- If an individual is a member of only one group that has a custom Check-in frequency set, their Check-in frequency will match the group's. Their Check-in frequency will still be editable within their account settings using the individual override feature. If the person is removed from the group they’re in, or if the group's custom frequency setting is removed, they will revert to the company's default Check-in frequency.
- If a person is a member of multiple groups that have custom Check-in frequencies, they will default to the Check-in frequency of the group that's most frequent. For example: let’s say you changed the Check-in frequency for the Rev Org group to every other week, and Check-in frequency for the Customer Success group to monthly. Bartek is a member of both of these groups. That means he will have an "every other week" Check-in frequency (since that’s the group he’s in with the more frequent Check-in frequency).

FAQs
For example: let's say that Josh is part of the "Engineering" Group, which has a weekly Check-in frequency, and the "R&D" Group, which has a bi-weekly cadence. In this case, we will automatically default Josh to follow the smallest cadence, "weekly". But if that wasn't the right call, and you want Josh to follow a bi-weekly cadence, you can go to Josh's profile and change his Check-in cadence. Basically, the individual setting will always rule over the group rule.
Once you make the change and set-up your group cadences, every a new member is added or removed from the group, they will automatically follow the cadence that is set at the group level.
As an alternative, if you want to remove every user from the individual cadence, you can reach out to 15Five' Support Team at support@15five.com and we can move everyone to the Company default (which will remove everyone's individual cadence). From there, you can set up custom group cadences.
