Convert a key result to a child objective

Key results are required for all objectives. Sometimes, a key result may be bigger/more involved than you originally anticipated and require key results of its own. In this case, you can convert it to a child objective. In this article, we'll walk through how to convert a key result to a child objective.

Convert a key result to a child objective

  1. Click Objectives in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation to open the Objectives Dashboard.

  2. Use the filters at the top of the page to find the objective you want to update.

  3. Click on the name of the objective to open its details page.

  4. Click ... to the right of the key result you want to convert to a child objective and select 'Convert to child objective' from the dropdown menu.Screen_Shot_2021-04-20_at_9.49.47_AM.png

    Note

    After you convert a key result to a child objective, there is no way to revert it to a key result. In this case, you can re-add the item as a key result by editing the parent objective, and then delete the child objective.

  5. Fill out all information, including names and details for your key results. A detailed walkthrough of how to create an aligned objective can be found here.
  6. After all fields are completed, click Create objective at the bottom of the page.

  7. Once you convert a key result to a child objective, it will show under the parent objective as a child objective.
