Key results are required for all objectives. Sometimes, a key result may be bigger/more involved than you originally anticipated and require key results of its own. In this case, you can convert it to a child objective. In this article, we'll walk through how to convert a key result to a child objective.

Convert a key result to a child objective
- Click Objectives in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation to open the Objectives Dashboard.
- Use the filters at the top of the page to find the objective you want to update.
- Click on the name of the objective to open its details page.
- Click ... to the right of the key result you want to convert to a child objective and select 'Convert to child objective' from the dropdown menu.
Note
After you convert a key result to a child objective, there is no way to revert it to a key result. In this case, you can re-add the item as a key result by editing the parent objective, and then delete the child objective.
- Fill out all information, including names and details for your key results. A detailed walkthrough of how to create an aligned objective can be found here.
- After all fields are completed, click Create objective at the bottom of the page.
- Once you convert a key result to a child objective, it will show under the parent objective as a child objective.
