Add a Private Manager Assessment to a question template

A Private Manager Assessment section lets managers answer questions that employees cannot see. This article covers how to add that section to a self & manager question template and configure its questions.

Before You Begin

• You must be building or editing a Self & manager question template. This section does not appear in peer or upward review templates.
• The question template must already exist or be in progress. To create one from scratch, see Create a custom question template.

Steps

1. Open the question template in the Template configuration tab under Reviews.
2. Scroll to the Private Manager Assessment section in the template editor.
3. Click Add a new question inside the Private Manager Assessment section.
4. Type your question text in the question field.
5. Click Show advanced options to access visibility and format settings.
6. Under Who is this question for?, confirm the audience is set to Managers only — employees cannot see questions in this section.
7. Under Select a question type, choose Text, Yes/No, Opinion scale, or Multiple Choice.
8. If you select Opinion scale, adjust the scale points (minimum 3, maximum 7) and edit scale labels if needed.
9. If you select Multiple Choice, add up to 20 answer options.
10. To apply a custom rating scale, select an answer template under Select an answer template.
11. To make the question optional, toggle off Required question.
12. To allow written context alongside a rating, toggle on Include field for optional content.
13. Click Create question to save the question to the section.
14. Repeat steps 3–13 for each additional question.
