Manage an active Performance Improvement Plan

Manage an active PIP to track progress, log notes, and adjust timelines. All changes are recorded in the PIP's audit log with timestamps and actor identity.

Track progress

  1. Go to Growth Studio > Plans.
  1. Click Performance Improvement Plans.
  1. Select the PIP from the list.
  1. Review action item status and milestone progress.

Log activity and notes

  1. Open the active PIP.
  1. Scroll to the Notes section.
  1. Enter notes and click Save.

Pause to make edits

When an HR admin edits an active PIP, the plan enters Paused state automatically.

  • The employee has view-only access while the plan is paused.
  • The employee must re-acknowledge the plan after edits are finalized.

Extend a PIP

  1. Open the PIP.
  1. Click the three-dot menu at the bottom.
  1. Select Extend.

Integrations with other features

  • PIP action items appear in the employee's Check-in.
  • Active PIPs are linked in 1-on-1 agendas.
  • The audit log records all actions with timestamps and actor identity.

Confirmation: Updated notes, status changes, and extensions appear in the PIP's Audit log.

If Something Goes Wrong

Cannot edit the active PIP Confirm you have HR admin permissions Only HR admins can edit an active PIP; contact your admin
Employee was not prompted to re-acknowledge Confirm the PIP was unpaused after edits Finalize edits so the plan exits Paused state
Extend option is missing Confirm the PIP is in an active state A completed or closed PIP cannot be extended
Notes are not saving Confirm you clicked Save after entering notes Click Save and refresh the page to verify
