Create an Individual Development Plan

Create an IDP to define growth goals, action items, and a timeline for an employee's professional development. The completed plan appears in Growth Studio for ongoing tracking.

Before You Begin

  • An admin must have configured at least one IDP template. If no templates appear, contact your admin.
  • Admins and managers can create IDPs for others. Employees can create IDPs for themselves.

Steps

Create an IDP from Growth Studio

  1. Go to Growth Studio > Plans.
  1. Click the Individual Development Plans tab.
  1. Click Draft plan.
  1. Select an employee and click Create draft.

> Role note: Managers see My Plans or My Team's Plans and select Individual Development Plan as the plan type. Employees skip employee selection and create a plan for themselves.

  1. Choose a start date and end date.
  1. Select an intent type.
  1. (Optional) Connect the plan to one or more competencies.
  1. Click Use a template.
  1. Fill in plan details, goals, and action items.
  1. Click Done to save as a draft, or click Share IDP to share with the employee.

Confirmation: The IDP appears in the Plans list with a Draft status.

Create an IDP from the Talent Matrix

  1. Go to Explore.
  1. Click an employee's avatar in the Talent Matrix.
  1. Click the three-dot menu on the employee's profile card.
  1. Select Draft IDP.
  1. Follow steps 5-10 above to complete the plan.

Create IDPs in bulk

Admins can create multiple IDPs at once from the Individual Development Plans tab by selecting several employees during the draft step. Each employee receives a separate plan using the same template and settings.
