Four permission mechanisms control who can see your Check-ins: reporting hierarchy, group permissions, followers, and Global Viewer status.
Note: Your organization may use private comments to keep certain content visible only between two people. Private comments are not visible to anyone who can otherwise see your Check-ins.
Key Rules
- Reporting hierarchy (always on): Everyone above you in the reporting hierarchy can see your Check-ins. This includes your direct manager, your manager's manager, and all leaders above them. Hierarchy drill-down is enabled for all accounts and cannot be disabled.
- Group permissions: A person may see your Check-ins if you share a group that has Group view or Group drill-down enabled.
- Group view gives all group members visibility into every other member's Check-ins. - Group drill-down creates a forced drill-down relationship between group members who would not otherwise have visibility into each other's Check-ins. - Account admins and group admins manage these settings in group configuration.
- Followers: Anyone whose follow request you have accepted can view your Check-ins. Followers can comment on, like, and pass up your Check-in responses. To remove a follower, go to your Followers page and click Remove follower next to their name.
- Global Viewers: Global Viewers have organization-wide visibility into all Check-ins. This permission is granted to specific users via a request to 15Five Support. An account admin must contact 15Five Support to request Global Viewer access for a user. To view Check-ins as a Global Viewer, click Check-ins in the left-hand navigation, then select the Everyone's tab. To see whether your organization has Global Viewers, check the Global Viewers page in your account settings.
Note: Global Viewer for Check-ins is a separate permission from Global Viewer for 1-on-1s and Global Viewer for Objectives. Check-ins Global Viewer access does not automatically grant visibility into 1-on-1 agendas or objectives. Important: Global Viewers cannot see private objectives, private comments, or any other content marked as private.
Common Misunderstanding
Visibility through group permissions is separate from reporting hierarchy. A person at the same level as you in the org chart can see your Check-ins if a shared group has Group view or Group drill-down enabled — even if they are not your manager.
