HRIS Connector Overview π
15Five's HRIS Connector links your HRIS (Human Resources Information System) to 15Five, allowing you to transfer employee data seamlessly and securely. By connecting your HRIS, you keep employee information current by ensuring that changes are automatically reflected in 15Five. This removes the need for manual data entry and reduces the chances of errors from entering data in different systems.

How to connect your HRIS π
In this section, you'll learn how to connect your HRIS to 15Five using the HRIS Connector. While the screenshots below show how to integrate with BambooHR, other HRIS systems have similar authentication steps. You can also refer to the "Authentication and setup" section of this video for a comprehensive walkthrough:
Note
You can only have one active HRIS integration at a time in 15Five. Before starting a new HRIS integration, like switching from ADP to Paylocity, you must deactivate the current integration. To remove an existing integration, please contact our Support Team.
- Click on the Settings gear in the top, right-hand corner of 15Five.
- Select HRIS Connector from the dropdown menu.
- You'll be directed to the configuration page. Select your HRIS from the list or use the search field to locate your HRIS.
- You have two options for authenticating your account. The first is to log in with your credentials on the HRIS's website. We recommend this option when available. Otherwise, you can authenticate using your API key or access token. If you choose the latter option, the HRIS connector modal will guide you to where to find your API key. When you're done, click Next.

Some integrations require additional prerequisites or permissions before authenticating. Please reference integration-specific authentication articles here.
- Review the data that 15Five can access through the integration, then click Continue.
- Enter your HRIS subdomain. This is most likely the name of your company. When you're done, click Submit.
- Click Open window to go to your HRIS account. There, you will authorize the integration with 15Five.
- Once you complete authentication, a screen will confirm your integration is ready. Click Finish setup.
- You will return to 15Five to sync data. This usually takes 10-15 minutes. For larger companies, it can take a few hours. When the sync is complete, continue to the next tab in this article to configure your integration.
Note
By default, all employee and group data will sync to 15Five. During configuration, you can use filters to include or exclude data.
How to configure settings and sync data π οΈ
In this section, you will learn how to configure integration settings. You'll also choose which employee and group data to sync from your HRIS to 15Five. Refer to the "Configuration" section of this video for a comprehensive walkthrough:
- Begin by setting up any inclusion or exclusion filters you want to utilize. Click Add filter row to add additional filters.
You can include/exclude users using the following filters:- Locations
- Employment statuses (Part-time, Full-time)
- Groups (Departments + Divisions)
- Department
- Division name
- Worker Category
Note
The HRIS Connector filters out inactive people by default.
- In the "Confirm your company settings" section at the bottom of the page, you'll find your current settings for invite emails and demographic attributes. To change a setting, click the link to its right.
- Immediately send invite emails to imported people: This setting allows you to control whether you want 15Five to automatically send email invites to new employees who are synced to 15Five. If you choose to disable this setting, you can manually send invite emails by following these steps.
- Demographic attributes: When you enable demographic attributes in your account, 15Five will sync the following from your HRIS, if available: Birth date, Ethnicity, Gender, Race, and Salary. Populating these fields allows HR admins to report on key employee trends through the lens of their workforceβs demographics. Only HR Admins and the employee themselves can view an employee's demographic attributes.
- Once you finalize your filter choices and confirm your settings, click Validate & Review. This lets you preview your data before syncing.
- Preview your data to make sure the information you're about to upload is accurate. If you need to make changes, click Back. If everything looks as expected, click Preview Group Type Data.

You're now on the "Review Group Types" page. Here, determine which group types in your HRIS should be either:
- Matched with group types in 15Five,
- Created (if the group type doesn't yet exist in 15Five),
- Excluded (if you don't want to sync a group type from your HRIS to 15Five), or
- Untouched (if the group type exists in 15Five but not in your HRIS).

- When you're done, click Confirm Group Type Data.
- Now it's time to map groups from your HRIS to 15Five. Here, determine which groups in your HRIS should be either:
- Matched with groups in 15Five,
- Created (if the group doesn't yet exist in 15Five), or
- Excluded (if you don't want to sync a group from your HRIS to 15Five).
- When you're done, click Confirm group data. Then, click Run data sync.
- The sync will begin automatically. This process usually takes a few seconds to complete. After the sync finishes, your HRIS will be integrated with 15Five. It will sync every 24 hours from now on.
- If you want to see the data imported during a sync, check the "History" tab.
How to manage your active integration π§βπ»
Use the sections below to learn how to manage your integration after setup.
Use the steps below to update integration settings.
- Click on the Settings gear in the top, right-hand corner of 15Five.
- Select HRIS Connector from the dropdown menu.
- You'll be directed to the configuration page. From here, you can update settings including:
- Filters: The inclusion/exclusion filters that control which employees are synced to 15Five.
- Employee fields settings: Which employee data fields should be synced to 15Five.
- Automatic sync: Whether or not automatic sync is enabled
- Immediately send invite emails to imported people: Whether or not newly-imported employees should automatically receive email invites from 15Five. If this option is disabled, you can manually send invite emails by following these steps.
- Demographic attributes: Whether or not you want to sync demographic attributes from your HRIS so they appear in 15Five.

By default, your HRIS will sync with 15Five every 24 hours at at 1 AM UTC. If desired, you can disable automatic sync using the steps below.
Note
Disabling automatic sync means your employee data in 15Five will no longer update automatically with your HRIS. This may result in outdated data, missed insights, and limited reporting accuracy across the platform.
- Click on the Settings gear in the top, right-hand corner of 15Five.
- Select HRIS Connector from the dropdown menu.
- You'll be directed to the configuration page. Scroll to the "Company settings" section at the bottom of the page. Then, toggle off the "Automatic sync (every 24 hours)" setting.
- A popup will appear containing insights on the implications of turning off automatic sync, including potential data accuracy issues and limited reporting capabilities. To proceed, click Turn off syncing.
