Overview and capabilities

15Five's HRIS connector is a software integration that connects a company's HRIS (Human Resources Information System) to 15Five. The purpose of an HRIS connector is to allow employee data to flow from your HRIS provider to 15Five, enabling real-time employee data synchronization and automatic updates. This eliminates the need for manual data entry and reduces the risk of errors that can occur when data is entered multiple times into different systems.

The HRIS connector enables you to mirror the right data from your HRIS in 15Five. With the HRIS connector, you can...

Authenticate and set up the HRIS connector

  1. Click on the 'Settings' gear in the top, right-hand corner of 15Five.


  2. Select 'Integrations' from the dropdown menu.


  3. Click Manage next to "Unified HRIS connector."


  4. You'll be taken to the connector page where a modal window will automatically open for you to select a new integration. Click on the HRIS you want to integrate with from the list, or use the search field to find your desired integration.
  5. Click Continue to give 15Five access to your account.
  6. Now it's time to authenticate your account either via the integration's website (recommended when available) or using your API key or email and password. If you choose the latter option, the HRIS connector modal will guide you to where to find your API key.



    Some integrations require additional prerequisites or permissions before authenticating. Please reference integration-specific authentication articles here.

  7. Enter your HRIS subdomain (most likely the name of your company).
  8. Wait for a few seconds for the integration to connect, then click Continue.
  9. Review the data that 15Five can access through the integration, then click Continue.
  10. You'll see a screen confirming that your integration is set up. Click Finish.
  11. You'll be directed back to 15Five to start syncing data. It typically takes 10-15 minutes for data from your HRIS to sync to 15Five, but for larger companies, this process can take up to a few hours.

Configure settings and sync employee and group data

Once the syncing process completes, it's time to configure integration settings and select the data you want to sync from your HRIS to 15Five.

  1. Begin by setting up any inclusion or exclusion filters you want to utilize.
    You can include/exclude users using the following filters:
    • Locations
    • Email
    • Employment statuses (Part-time, Full-time)
    • Groups (Departments + Divisions)
    • Department
    • Division name
    • Worker Category

    *We already filter out inactive people by default

    Click Add filter row to add additional filters.

  2. In the "Confirm your company settings" section at the bottom of the page, you can see your current settings for invite emails and demographic attributes. Click on the settings link to the right of either of these sections to access or change your current setting.
  3. Once you've finalized your filtering selections and confirmed settings, click Validate & Review to preview your data prior to syncing.
  4. Preview your data to make sure the information you're about to upload is accurate. If you need to make changes, click Back. If everything looks as expected, click Preview Group Type Data.
  5. You're now on the "Review Group Types" page. Here, determine which group types in your HRIS should either be matched with group types in 15Five, created (if the group type don't yet exist in 15Five), excluded (if you don't want to sync a group type from your HRIS to 15Five) or "untouched" (if the group type exists in 15Five but not in your HRIS). When you're done, click Confirm Group Type Data.

  6. Now it's time to map groups from your HRIS to 15Five. Here, determine which groups in your HRIS should either be matched with groups in 15Five, created (if the group doesn't yet exist in 15Five), or excluded (if you don't want to sync a group from your HRIS to 15Five). When you're done, click Run data sync.
  7. You'll be taken to the "Sync data" page. This process usually takes a few seconds to complete. Once the sync finishes, your HRIS is officially integrated with 15Five and will sync every 24 hours moving forward.
  8. If at any time you want to see what data was imported, you can do so in the 'History' tab.

What data can I sync from my HRIS > 15Five?

With the HRIS connector, data is automatically synced from your HRIS to 15Five, eliminating manual work and ensuring that information is up-to-date and accurate.

The following data will be synced from your HRIS to 15Five:

Standard information

  • First Name
  • Last name
  • Email
  • Job Title
  • Location
  • Employee ID
  • Status (Is active (Y/N)
  • Hire Date
  • Start Date
  • Manager/Reviewer

Demographic data (if enabled)

  • Salary
  • Gender
  • Ethnicity
  • Birth Date
  • Race

Group Types / Groups

  • Departments
  • Divisions
  • Depending on the HRIS, additional group types/groups may be synced by default

You can also use filters to make sure you're bringing the right employees over to 15Five. For example, if you want to exclude by employment status "part-time," then none of your employees who are part-time will come over.

You can include/exclude users using the following filters:

  • Employment statuses (Part-time, Full-time)
  • Groups (Departments + Divisions)
  • Department
  • Division name
  • Worker Category

If a person if deactivated in my HRIS, will they be deactivated in 15Five?
Yes. Changes made to employees in your HRIS will push to 15Five.
How often does data sync from my HRIS > 15Five?
Data is synced every 24 hours, at 1 AM UTC.
