Individual Development Plans (IDPs) are collaborative development plans in Growth Studio for career growth, skill-building, and promotion readiness. HR, managers, or employees can create IDPs depending on account-level permission settings.
Available in: Perform, Focus (Legacy), and Total Platform packages.
Feature Structure
An IDP consists of the following components:
- Plan details — The plan's title, description, and target outcomes. IDPs have no locked dates and no required acknowledgment.
- Templates — Admins create IDP templates that define the structure and sections available when building a plan. Templates standardize the development planning process across the organization.
- Action items — Discrete tasks within the plan that track progress. IDP action items appear in the employee's Check-ins for ongoing visibility.
- Approval workflow — A configurable review step with three options: no approval required (IDP activates immediately), manager approval, or HR approval.
- 1-on-1 integration — Quick links to an employee's active IDPs appear in 1-on-1 agendas for discussion during manager conversations.
Key Rules
- IDP creation permissions are configurable at the account level. Admins control whether HR, managers, employees, or any combination can create plans.
- IDPs are not locked after publishing. Participants can edit plan content at any time.
- Approval workflows have three options: no approval required, manager approval, or HR approval.
- IDP action items sync with the employee's Check-ins automatically.
- Templates define the structure of new IDPs. Admins manage templates in Growth Studio settings.
