Two-step authentication requires a time-based code from an authenticator app in addition to your email and password when signing in to 15Five. When setup is complete, the two-step authentication status on your Security tab will show as enabled.
Before You Begin
- Install an authenticator app that supports the Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) protocol on your mobile device. Google Authenticator and Duo Mobile both work.
- Two-step authentication is not available if your organization uses Single Sign-On (SSO). See if the Setup button does not appear.
Steps
- Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of your 15Five account.
- Select My settings from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Security tab at the top of the page.
- Click Setup to the right of Two-step authentication.
- Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code displayed on screen.
- Click Next step and enter the code your authenticator app generates.
- Follow the remaining prompts to confirm setup.
When setup is complete, the Two-step authentication row on the Security tab displays a status indicating authentication is active.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Setup button does not appear or is grayed out | Confirm whether your organization uses SSO | Two-step authentication cannot be enabled when SSO is active. Contact your admin to confirm. |
| QR code does not scan | Confirm your authenticator app supports TOTP | Switch to a TOTP-compatible app such as Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile, then return to the Security tab and restart setup. |
| Authenticator code is rejected after scanning | Confirm your device clock is set to automatic/network time | Time drift causes TOTP codes to fail. Enable automatic time sync on your device, then generate a new code. |
| Lost access to your authenticator device | N/A | Contact the 15Five Support Team with your account email to request manual recovery. |
