Four data types are required to generate insights: survey data, review cycle data, people attributes, and termination data. Insights for a given type only appear when the corresponding data is present and complete.
Key Rules
Survey data
- Engagement, Manager Effectiveness, and eNPS surveys must be active and have collected responses.
- Run surveys at least twice per year; quarterly frequency enables trend analysis.
- Use consistent survey types across cycles — switching types breaks trend comparisons.
- Lifecycle surveys (such as Onboarding) must be configured to capture early-tenure data.
Review cycle data
- At least one completed company-wide review cycle is required for performance insights to surface.
- Review data must cover all employees, not a subset — partial coverage limits insight accuracy.
- Only completed cycles are included; in-progress cycles do not contribute to insights.
People attributes
- Employee attributes (department, level, manager, tenure, etc.) must be current for group-level breakdowns to appear.
- Attributes sync automatically when an HRIS is connected via the HRIS Connector.
- If no HRIS Connector is available, attributes can be maintained manually or via API, SFTP, or SCIM.
Termination data
- Accurate termination dates are required for turnover rate calculations and retention insights.
- Missing or incorrect termination dates cause turnover figures to undercount or misdate exits.
- Termination data can be synced through an HRIS integration or entered directly in 15Five.
Common Misunderstanding
The Insights Dashboard does not generate placeholder insights when data is missing — insight types that lack sufficient data simply do not appear until the required data is present.
