Review admins and cycle collaborators can change which person writes the manager review for a specific participant in an active review cycle. When complete, the new manager appears as the assigned author on the participant's Edit Individual Settings page.
Access and availability
- Requires access to performance reviews.
- Available to Review admins and Cycle collaborators.
- Available on Perform, Legacy Focus, and Total Platform pricing packages.
Before You Begin
- If the existing manager has already submitted a manager review, the Edit option will not appear. Contact 15Five Support at support@15five.com to remove the submitted review before proceeding.
- After this change, the participant's direct manager (set in account settings) can only view cycle results if the "Direct managers and additional managers past reviews visibility" setting is enabled, or if they are added as a review viewer. See Add a review viewer for a participant for instructions.
Steps
- Go to Reviews in the left-hand navigation.
- Click the name of the review cycle you want to edit.
- Search for the participant whose manager you want to change.
- Click ... to the right of the participant's name.
- Click Edit individual settings.
- Click Edit next to Manager review.
- Click the drop-down menu and select the new manager.
> Note: You cannot select someone who is the participant's direct report, who has already been nominated as a peer reviewer for this participant, or who is globally excluded from review cycles.
- Click Save.
> Important: If the previous manager had already started a draft, a pop-up will appear warning you that saving will permanently delete that draft. Click Yes, save this new setting to confirm.
The participant's Edit Individual Settings page now shows the new manager as the assigned manager review author. The new manager will receive a request to complete the manager review.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Edit option does not appear next to Manager review | The existing manager has already submitted a manager review | Contact 15Five Support at support@15five.com to request removal of the submitted review |
| Person you want to assign does not appear in the drop-down | They are the participant's direct report, an existing peer reviewer for this participant, or are globally excluded from review cycles | Resolve the blocking condition (remove peer nomination, adjust global exclusion setting) then retry |
| Pop-up warns that a draft will be deleted | Previous manager started but did not submit a manager review | Click Yes, save this new setting to confirm deletion of the draft and proceed |
