Create a Manager Effectiveness Action Plan

HR Admins use the Manager Summary Report in the HR Outcomes Dashboard to create a Manager Effectiveness Action Plan — a targeted set of actions assigned to specific managers based on AI-generated insights from Kona.

Before You Begin

  • Your account requires access to Kona and the HR Outcomes Dashboard. Kona is available as an add-on for the Total Platform pricing package.
  • You must have the HR Admin role in 15Five.

Steps

  1. Go to Insights Dashboard in the left-hand navigation.
  2. Click the Manager Effectiveness tab at the top of the page.

> This opens the Manager Summary Report. For a breakdown of the report's components, see Manager Effectiveness Assessment — What It Is and How It Works.

  1. Use the Show managers filter to narrow the manager list by urgency or other criteria.

> Start with managers marked High urgency to prioritize the most time-sensitive support needs. For how urgency is calculated, see .

  1. Review each manager's urgency level, recommended coaching focus, and most recent enablement activity in the Manager Table.
  2. Click the arrow to the right of a manager's name to open their Manager Details Panel.

> The panel shows the Opportunity Report and MEI Factor Ranking for that manager.

  1. In the Manager Table, select the checkbox to the left of each manager you want to include in the Action Plan.

> To select all managers, use the checkbox in the table header.

  1. Click Draft Action Plan in the top-right corner of the table.

> The Draft an Action Plan modal opens.

  1. Under What do you want to improve?, select the outcome you want this plan to target.
  2. Review the actions listed under Recommended actions.

> 15Five pre-populates a recommended set of actions (Kona, Coaching, and Content) based on the selected outcome.

  1. (Optional) Under Assign AI Coach, assign Kona to managers who do not yet have it.

> Choose All managers in this plan or select specific individuals.

  1. Click Save Plan and Preview.

> This does not launch the plan. You are taken to the Action Plan overview page to review and edit before launching.

  1. On the Action Plan overview page, click Add Actions to include additional actions if needed.

> For a full list of available action types, see What types of actions can be included in a Manager Effectiveness Action Plan?.

  1. To remove an action, click the three-dot menu next to the action and select Delete.
  2. When the plan is ready, click Launch to make it active.

Confirmation: The Action Plan status changes to active on the overview page. Assigned managers appear with their designated actions and start dates.

What Happens After Launch

Once a Manager Effectiveness Action Plan is launched, the following occurs automatically:

Manager notifications: Any manager assigned actions receives a launch email. Assigned actions appear on their Actions List starting on the designated start date.

Kona onboarding (if assigned): Managers assigned Kona receive a Slack notification and email prompting them to begin the onboarding process.

Progress tracking: From the Action Plan overview page, you can monitor completion rates and send nudges to action owners. See Track the progress of assigned actions for instructions.
