Enabling the Public API in 15Five generates an access token you paste into Rippling when setting up the integration.
Before You Begin
- You must be a 15Five Account Admin.
- Have the Rippling integration setup flow open in a separate tab so you can paste the token when ready.
Steps
- Click the Settings gear in the bottom-left corner of your 15Five account.
- Select Integrations from the dropdown menu.
- Click Enable to the right of Public API.
- On the Company API keys page, click Create new key.
- Enter a short, identifiable name for the key in the name field.
- Click Save.
- On the Company API keys page, locate your new access token.
- Copy the access token and paste it into the Rippling integration setup flow.
> The Public API key is 32 characters long. The SCIM key is 30 characters — do not confuse the two. The API endpoint is my.15five.com unless your account uses a unique subdomain.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Enable button is not visible next to Public API | Confirm your account role is Admin, not Manager or Employee | Ask your 15Five Account Admin to complete these steps |
| Access token is not displayed after saving | Confirm the key was saved successfully — a name should appear in the key list | Refresh the Company API keys page; if the key is missing, repeat steps 4–6 |
| Token rejected by Rippling | Confirm you copied the full 32-character Public API key, not the SCIM key | Return to Company API keys, copy the token again, and re-enter it in Rippling |
