Populate the Engagement Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard

The Engagement Tile on the HR Outcomes Dashboard displays either an Engagement Score from a campaign or an average Pulse score from Check-ins. Follow Option 1 or Option 2 below to get data flowing into the tile.

Before You Begin

  • You must have access to the HR Outcomes Dashboard. This feature is available on the Perform and Total Platform pricing packages.
  • The dashboard automatically selects the measurement method: if your organization has run an engagement campaign, the tile displays the Engagement Score. If not, it displays the average Pulse score from Check-ins.
  • You cannot manually switch between measurement methods.

Option 1 (Recommended): Run an Engagement Campaign

Running an engagement campaign populates the Engagement Tile with an Engagement Score and also feeds data into the Manager Effectiveness Indicator (MEI).

15Five recommends using the Total Engagement survey. It includes the 7 Core Statements that calculate the Engagement Score, 17 Drivers of Engagement statements, 8 Manager Effectiveness statements, and an eNPS question.

You can also use the Engagement + Drivers or Engagement Score surveys. These populate the Engagement Tile but provide a less complete view.

  1. Navigate to Engage in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Campaigns.
  3. Click Create campaign.
  4. Select your survey — choose Total Engagement for the most complete data.
  5. Add participants and configure the schedule.
  6. Launch the campaign.

Once employees complete the survey, the Engagement Tile populates with the most recent average Engagement Score across active participants in the selected date range.

Option 2: Enable Check-ins Pulse

If your organization is not ready to run a campaign, the Engagement Tile uses the average Pulse score from Check-ins. The Pulse question asks employees, "How did you feel at work since your last Check-in?" on a 1–5 scale. The tile displays the average score across active employees using each person's most recent response from the past 31 days.

For this option to produce reliable data, employees must submit Check-ins consistently.

  1. Navigate to Admin settings.
  2. Select Check-ins.
  3. Confirm Check-ins are enabled and assigned to active employees.
  4. Verify the Pulse question is turned on in the Check-in template.

Once active employees submit Check-ins with Pulse responses, the Engagement Tile populates automatically.

If Something Goes Wrong

Issue Check Fix
Engagement Tile shows no data No campaign has been run and no employees have submitted Check-ins with Pulse in the past 31 days Run an engagement campaign or confirm Check-ins with Pulse are active and employees are submitting them
Tile shows Pulse instead of Engagement Score No engagement campaign has been completed Launch and complete an engagement campaign; the tile will switch to Engagement Score automatically
Engagement Score appears lower than expected Date range filter excludes recent campaign results Adjust the date range in the dashboard to include the campaign completion date
Pulse data is stale or missing Employees have not submitted Check-ins recently Increase Check-ins adoption; the tile uses only responses from the past 31 days
