This article describes how to get data flowing into each of the four HR Outcomes Dashboard tiles: Engagement, Performance, Turnover, and Manager Effectiveness. When all four tiles are populated, the dashboard displays outcome data and Data Insights to support HR decision-making.
Before You Begin
- You must have access to the HR Outcomes Dashboard. This feature is available on the Perform and Total Platform packages. Contact your account admin if you do not see the dashboard in your navigation.
- Review Understand the HR Outcomes Dashboard to understand what each tile measures before configuring data sources.
Phase 1: Connect your HRIS
Connecting your HRIS populates employee demographic data and supplies the termination records that drive the Turnover Tile.
- Go to Admin > Integrations > HRIS Connector.
- Follow the setup steps in Connect your HRIS to 15Five.
> Note: If you do not use an HRIS, you can supply termination data via bulk CSV import instead. See .
Phase 2: Populate the Engagement Tile
The Engagement Tile displays either an Engagement Score (from a completed engagement campaign) or an Average Pulse score (from Check-ins). The Engagement Score is used automatically once a campaign has been run; Average Pulse is used until then.
Option A — Run an engagement campaign (recommended)
- Go to Engage > Campaigns.
- Follow the steps in Populate the Engagement Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
Option B — Enable Check-ins Pulse
- Confirm Check-ins are enabled for your organization. See Enable or disable Check-ins for your organization.
- Confirm employees are submitting Check-ins consistently. The tile displays the average Pulse score from the most recent submission per active user in the past 31 days.
> Note: You cannot manually select which measurement method the Engagement Tile uses. If a campaign has been run, the tile defaults to Engagement Score. If no campaign has been run, it defaults to Average Pulse. See Understand Engagement Measurement on the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
Phase 3: Populate the Performance Tile
The Performance Tile displays the distribution of Top Performers, Mid Performers, and Bottom Performers. Performance designations come from one of three sources.
Option A — Run a review cycle with Performance Ratings+ (recommended)
- Go to Reviews.
- Follow the steps in Populate the Performance Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
Option B — Run a review cycle with a performance-specific opinion-scale question
- Go to Reviews.
- Follow the steps in Populate the Performance Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
Option C — Import an external review cycle with performance designations
- Go to Admin > Performance > Import.
- Follow the steps in Import external performance data.
Phase 4: Populate the Turnover Tile
The Turnover Tile displays month-over-month employee departure rates using termination data in 15Five.
Option A — Sync termination data via HRIS (recommended)
- Complete Phase 1 above to connect your HRIS.
- Confirm termination data is syncing. See Configure HRIS sync settings and run a data sync.
Option B — Import termination data via bulk CSV
- Go to Admin > People > Manage People.
- Follow the steps in .
Phase 5: Populate the Manager Effectiveness Tile
The Manager Effectiveness Indicator (MEI) combines data from up to three sources: engagement survey assessment data, performance review assessment data, and 15Five platform usage. At least one source must be active to display an MEI score.
Option A — Run a Manager Effectiveness engagement survey
- Go to Engage > Campaigns.
- Follow the steps in Populate the Manager Effectiveness Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
Option B — Run a review cycle with the Manager Effectiveness question template
- Go to Reviews.
- Follow the steps in Populate the Manager Effectiveness Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
Option C — Enable 15Five feature usage tracking
- Confirm the features contributing to platform usage (Check-ins, 1-on-1s) are enabled.
- See Populate the Manager Effectiveness Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard for which platform behaviors contribute to the MEI score.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A tile shows no data after setup | Confirm the relevant data source (campaign, review cycle, HRIS sync) has completed and data falls within the dashboard's applied date range | Adjust the date range filter or re-run the data sync. See Filter options on the HR Outcomes Dashboard. |
| Turnover Tile is empty despite HRIS connection | Confirm termination dates are present in your HRIS and the sync has run since those records were added | Manually trigger a sync in Admin > Integrations > HRIS Connector or add termination dates via CSV. See Add a Termination Date in Manage People. |
| Engagement Tile shows Pulse instead of Engagement Score | No engagement campaign has been completed in the applied date range | Run or complete an engagement campaign, or expand the date range to include a past campaign. |
| MEI tile shows platform usage data instead of assessment data | No Manager Effectiveness assessment data exists for the selected period | Run a Manager Effectiveness engagement survey or a review cycle with the Manager Effectiveness question template. See [Why does my MEI score use platform usage data instead of assessment data?]. |
| HRIS connection is not syncing people data | HRIS Connector setup may be incomplete or sync may have failed | Go to Admin > Integrations > HRIS Connector and check sync status. See Troubleshoot HRIS Connector errors. |
