Understand the Performance Outcome in the HR Outcomes Dashboard

The Performance outcome in the HR Outcomes Dashboard displays how individuals and teams are performing across your organization. It surfaces performance designation data, objective progress, and cross-outcome comparisons in one view.

Required access: HR Outcomes Dashboard. Available in the Perform and Total Platform pricing packages.

> Note: Your organization may have renamed the Reviews feature. If you don't see the expected review cycle terminology in your navigation, check with your admin for the name used in your account.

Feature Structure

The Performance section of the HR Outcomes Dashboard contains two components:

  • Performance tile — Displays either Top Performers or Objectives progress, depending on your selected view.
  • Data insights — Detailed visualizations accessible by clicking Explore this data from the Performance Scorecard.

Performance Tile Views

The Performance tile has two views. Admins can switch between them using the gear icon in the top-right corner of the tile. See Configure the Performance Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard for instructions.

Top Performers (default)

Displays the percentage of active users categorized as top, mid, or bottom performers. Performance designations are drawn from the data source configured in your dashboard settings.

Designations are assigned as follows:

  • The highest rating in your rubric = Top Performer
  • The lowest rating = Bottom Performer
  • All other ratings = Mid Performer

For example, in a five-category rubric (1-5), a rating of 5 = Top Performer, 1 = Bottom Performer, and 2-4 = Mid Performer.

Performance designations can be populated in two ways:

  • Performance Ratings+ rubric — Designations are based on the most recent performance rating active users received from the rubric selected in your dashboard configuration. This is the recommended approach.
  • Specific review cycle question — Designations are based on employee responses to a selected opinion-scale question from your performance review cycles.
Note: If your organization has not yet run a review cycle in 15Five, you can import external review data and select the most relevant question to populate performance designations. See Import external performance data and Format a CSV or XLSX File for External Performance Data Import.

Objectives

Displays the percentage of active objectives (excluding self-development objectives) marked On Track at their last update. This view reflects objective progress across your organization.

Performance Designation

Breaks down employee performance designations — top, mid, and bottom performers — alongside department, manager, and tenure context. Use the filters at the top to segment by group, demographics, or outcome metrics.

See Analyze Performance Designation Data in the HR Outcomes Dashboard for instructions on using filters and interpreting this view.

Objectives Status

Shows changes in the distribution of objective statuses over time.

  • Y-axis: Total percentage of company-wide, group, and individual objectives (self-development objectives excluded)
  • X-axis: Timeframe by week
  • Color key: Objective status category (No Status, At Risk, Behind, On Track)

Objective owners update status from their Check-ins or from the Objectives Dashboard.

Performance Rating and Turnover

Shows the distribution of employees who left your organization alongside their performance designation.

  • Y-axis: Number of employees
  • X-axis: Timeframe by month
  • Color key: Performance designation (based on Performance Ratings+ or a selected review cycle question)

Top Performers and Engagement

Shows engagement levels of current top performers over time.

  • Y-axis: Number of employees
  • X-axis: Engagement survey date
  • Color key: Engagement level (based on engagement survey results)

Top Performers and Pulse

Shows the Pulse score of top performers over time.

  • Y-axis: Number of employees with a top performer designation
  • X-axis: Timeframe by quarter
  • Color key: Numerical Pulse score from the most recent Check-in
Note: This insight is only available if your organization has run an engagement campaign. If no campaign has been run, Pulse data remains visible in the Engagement tile.

Key Rules

  • The Performance tile defaults to the Top Performers view. The Objectives view must be enabled manually via the gear icon.
  • Self-development objectives are excluded from all Objectives-view calculations.
  • Performance designations reflect the most recent rating received per active user, based on the review cycles included in your dashboard configuration.
  • The Top Performers and Pulse insight requires at least one completed engagement campaign to display data.
  • Organizations with the Compensation Add-on can view compensation-and-performance cross data, including a talent matrix mapped to compa-ratio. See Compensation Insights in the HR Outcomes Dashboard — Feature Overview for details.
