The Performance Tile in the HR Outcomes Dashboard displays the distribution of Top, Mid, and Bottom Performers across your organization. To populate it, you must either run a 15Five review cycle with the right configuration or import external review data.
Before You Begin
- You must have access to the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
- This feature is available on the Perform and Total Platform pricing packages.
- If running a review cycle, the cycle must be completed before data appears in the tile.
How Performance Is Measured
The dashboard assigns each reviewed employee one of three designations: Top Performer, Mid Performer, or Bottom Performer.
Designations are based on the highest and lowest options in whichever rating scale or opinion-scale question you use. The top option maps to Top Performer, the bottom option maps to Bottom Performer, and all remaining options map to Mid Performer.
Example: A five-point Performance Ratings+ rubric assigns "5" → Top Performer, "1" → Bottom Performer, and "2–4" → Mid Performer.
Performance data can come from three sources:
- Performance Ratings+ (recommended): Automates a numerical score from self and manager review ratings.
- Opinion-scale question: A specific manager review question you designate as the performance source.
- External review import: Review cycle data imported from outside 15Five.
Option 1: Run a Review Cycle with Performance Ratings+
Steps
- Navigate to Reviews in the left sidebar.
- Select Create review cycle.
- Configure your review cycle settings and participants.
- In the review template settings, enable Performance Ratings+.
- Select or confirm your Performance Ratings+ rubric.
- Complete the remaining cycle configuration and launch the cycle.
- After the cycle closes, open the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
- Confirm the Performance Tile displays performer distribution data.
Option 2: Run a Review Cycle with a Performance-Specific Question
Steps
- Navigate to Reviews in the left sidebar.
- Select Create review cycle.
- Configure your review cycle settings and participants.
- In the manager review template, add or select an opinion-scale question to measure performance.
- Use a 15Five Private Manager Assessment question, or - Create a custom question such as: "My overall assessment of [Name]'s performance during this review period was…"
- In the HR Outcomes Dashboard settings, designate that opinion-scale question as the performance source.
- Complete the remaining cycle configuration and launch the cycle.
- After the cycle closes, open the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
- Confirm the Performance Tile displays performer distribution data.
Option 3: Import an External Review Cycle
Steps
- Navigate to Reviews in the left sidebar.
- Select Import review cycle.
- Prepare your import file to include performance designations for each participant.
- Complete the import following the on-screen prompts.
- Open the HR Outcomes Dashboard.
- Confirm the Performance Tile reflects the imported designation data.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Performance Tile shows no data | Review cycle status | Confirm the cycle is closed, not still in progress |
| Performance Tile shows no data | Performance Ratings+ or question configured | Verify Performance Ratings+ or an opinion-scale question was included before the cycle launched |
| Performer distribution looks incorrect | Rubric top/bottom mapping | Confirm the rubric's highest and lowest options align with your intended Top/Bottom Performer definitions |
| Imported data not appearing | Import file format | Re-check that the import file included a performance designation column with valid values |
