Enabling SFTP in 15Five creates a secure connection between your HRIS and 15Five so employee data imports automatically. After setup, 15Five displays connection credentials and logs all import history.
Before You Begin
- Confirm with your HRIS account manager that your HRIS supports SFTP, or have your IT or Engineering team ready to write an automated script.
- You must have admin access in 15Five.
- SFTP is available on all 15Five plans.
Steps
- Click the Settings gear in the bottom-left corner of your 15Five account.
- Select Features from the dropdown menu.
- Click Integrations.
- Click Enable to the right of the SFTP option.
- Read the confirmation pop-up, then click Enable SFTP.
- On the Setup tab, copy the connection credentials shown.
- Enter those credentials into your HRIS or script to configure the connection.
- Run your first import from your HRIS or script.
- Click the Settings tab on the SFTP integration page.

If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Enable button is missing | Confirm you are viewing Integrations under Features, not another settings area | Navigate to Settings → Features → Integrations and look for the SFTP row |
| No credentials appear after enabling | Confirm the enable pop-up completed without a browser error | Reload the page; if credentials are still absent, contact support@15five.com |
| Import does not appear in Import history | Confirm the HRIS or script successfully sent the file to 15Five's SFTP server | Check HRIS transfer logs for errors; re-send the file and refresh Import history |
| Contact person field shows no users | Confirm the intended user has an active 15Five account | Reactivate the user or select a different active account |
| Import errors sent to wrong person | Confirm the correct contact is saved in the Settings tab | Select the correct user and save changes |
