Troubleshoot Missing Download Button for Engagement Reports

The Download button does not appear on the Engage campaign results page. This article identifies the three causes and how to resolve each.

Diagnose

Work through these checks in order.

Check 1: Campaign status → How to check: In Surveys > Engagement, open the campaign and confirm its status label. → If the status is Closed: Campaign status is not the cause. Move to Check 2. → If the status is Paused, In Review, or anything other than Closed: The button is intentionally hidden. See Fix 1.

Check 2: User role → How to check: Confirm the logged-in user's role in Account Settings > People > Roles. → If the role is HR Admin or an equivalent Engage administrator role: Role is not the cause. Move to Check 3. → If the role is any other role (manager, employee, etc.): The user lacks permission. See Fix 2.

Check 3: Employee impersonation → How to check: Check whether an impersonation banner appears at the top of the screen. → If an impersonation banner is visible: Impersonation is blocking the action. See Fix 3. → If no banner is visible: All three common causes have been ruled out. See If It Still Fails.

Fix

Fix 1 — Campaign is not fully closed

  1. Return to Surveys > Engagement.
  2. Open the campaign.
  3. Close the campaign completely using the campaign controls.
  4. Return to the campaign results page after the status updates to Closed.
  5. Confirm the Download button now appears.

Fix 2 — Insufficient role

  1. Open Account Settings > People.
  2. Locate the affected user.
  3. Update the user's role to HR Admin or the appropriate Engage administrator role.
  4. Ask the user to refresh the campaign results page.
  5. Confirm the Download button now appears.

Fix 3 — Employee impersonation active

  1. End the impersonation session using the exit control in the impersonation banner.
  2. Log in as the HR admin account directly.
  3. Navigate to Surveys > Engagement and open the closed campaign.
  4. Confirm the Download button now appears.

What Resolution Looks Like

The Download button appears on the campaign results page for the closed campaign. Clicking it presents two options: Executive Results Deck and Manager Action Summary PDFs.
