The Pay and Performance Risk insight plots employees on a 3×3 grid using their latest performance designation and pay level relative to market. Use it to identify high performers who may be underpaid and at risk of leaving before attrition occurs.
Before You Begin
- Purchase the Compensation add-on (Compensation plus Mercer or Compensation plus Salary.com) from 15Five.
- Complete at least one compensation review cycle so 15Five has categorized compensation data.
- Access to the HR Outcomes Dashboard is required for your account.
Steps
- Click Insights Dashboard in 15Five's main left-hand navigation.
- Select Outcomes Dashboard.
- Scroll down to the Data Insights section.
- Locate the Pay and Performance Risk insight in the Data Insights section.
- Review the 3×3 grid — columns show performance level (High, Mid, Bottom); rows show pay level (Above, At, Below market rate).
- Check the Unmeasured sections for employees missing performance or compensation data.
- Click any grid cell to see the employees plotted in that segment.
- Apply filters at the top of the dashboard to narrow results by Groups, Attributes, or Outcomes.
Reading the Insight
Unmeasured sections: Employees appear here when either performance designation or compensation data is missing from 15Five. Review these employees separately to determine which data gap applies.
Comprehensive add-on variant: If your account has the Compensation add-on with the Comprehensive tier only (without Mercer or Salary.com), the insight displays the same 3×3 grid but does not show individual employee names.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Pay and Performance Risk insight is blank | Confirm a compensation review cycle has been completed | Run a compensation review cycle, then reload the dashboard |
| Insight disappears after applying a filter | The filtered group may fall below the minimum confidentiality threshold | Broaden the filter to include a larger group |
| All employees appear in Unmeasured | Compensation data has not been categorized against a market benchmark | Confirm your Compensation add-on tier includes Mercer or Salary.com market data |
| Employee names are hidden in the grid | Account uses the Comprehensive add-on tier | Employee names are not available at this tier — this is expected behavior |
