Compensation Insights connect compensation data with performance and engagement outcomes in the HR Outcomes Dashboard, giving HR admins visibility into pay equity, retention risk, and the relationship between pay and performance.
Access and availability: Requires the HR Outcomes Dashboard and the Compensation add-on. Available on Perform or Total Platform pricing packages only.
Feature Structure
Compensation Insights appear in two locations within the HR Outcomes Dashboard:
- Data Insights section — contains the Compensation Fairness insight and the Pay and Performance Risk insight
- Performance Data Insight — contains the Compa-Ratio column, accessed by clicking Explore this data in the Performance tile
Compensation Fairness Insight
What it shows: Employee responses to the engagement statement "I feel the rewards I get are equitable given the work I do," broken down by market rate category: above, at, or below market rate.
Why it matters: Reveals how fairness perception shifts based on pay relative to market. Identifies where below-market compensation correlates with lower engagement, supporting data-backed pay decisions.
Fairness perception data comes from your latest engagement campaign. Employees who did not participate in the latest engagement survey appear as Perception Unmeasured. See What does 'Perception Unmeasured' mean in Compensation Insights? for details.
Compa-Ratio Column
What it shows: Each employee's compa-ratio — their compensation expressed as a percentage of market value — displayed next to their performance designation from the latest review cycle.
Why it matters: Surfaces misalignment between pay and performance. High performers paid below market represent a potential retention risk. Provides market context for calibration, promotions, and retention planning.
Pay and Performance Risk Insight
What it shows: Plots each employee on a 3x3 grid using their latest performance designation (High, Mid, or Bottom performer) and their pay level relative to market (Below market rate, At market rate, or Above market rate).
Why it matters: High performers paid below market are at elevated attrition risk. This insight surfaces that risk before it results in regrettable turnover.
Add-on variant: Customers with the Compensation plus Mercer or Compensation plus Salary.com add-on see employee names plotted on the grid. Customers with the Compensation plus Comprehensive add-on see the same grid without individual employee names.
Employees missing either performance or compensation data appear in Unmeasured sections on the grid.
Key Rules
- Compensation Insights require the Compensation add-on. They are not available on standard Perform or Total Platform packages without this add-on.
- The Compensation Fairness insight requires a completed engagement campaign using Total Engagement or Engagement + Drivers survey options. It does not populate from other survey types.
- The Compa-Ratio column and Pay and Performance Risk insight require at least one completed compensation review cycle.
- Insights do not display for filtered groups that fall below the minimum confidentiality threshold for engagement surveys. See Why is a Compensation Insight blank when I apply filters? for details.
- The Pay and Performance Risk insight displays employee names only for Compensation plus Mercer and Compensation plus Salary.com add-ons. The Comprehensive add-on variant omits names.
