Writers in a review cycle see the previous review experience instead of AI-Assisted Reviews. This usually means the cycle's review experience setting is not what you expect, or the cycle was created before AI-Assisted Reviews became available.
Access and Availability
- Checking company-level settings requires an Account Admin.
- Changing a cycle's review experience requires permission to manage that review cycle, including review admins and collaborators where applicable.
- Available in the Total Platform and Perform & Goals pricing packages.
- Applies to manual review cycles. Lifecycle Reviews are excluded from AI-Assisted Reviews and are unaffected by these settings.
Diagnose
Check: The cycle was created before September 17
- How to check: Open the review cycle and look at when it was created, and whether it was already draft, upcoming, or active before September 17.
- If true: This is expected. Cycles that were already draft, upcoming, or active before September 17 stay on the legacy review experience by default. Use the fix below to change the experience for that cycle.
- If not: Continue to the next check.
Check: The cycle is set to a different review experience
- How to check: Open the cycle's settings and find 15Five AI > Review experience in this cycle.
- If true: The cycle is set to Disable 15Five AI or Use the legacy experience. Use the fix below.
- If not: Continue to the next check.
Check: The cycle was cloned or repeats from an earlier cycle
- How to check: Confirm whether the cycle was created by cloning another cycle or through a repeating cycle.
- If true: Recheck the review experience setting on this cycle rather than assuming it carried over from the original. Use the fix below.
- If not: Continue to the next check.
Check: The company-level settings are not enabled
- How to check: Confirm Feature Settings > 15Five AI > AI-Assisted Reviews is on, and Performance Reviews AI is enabled in Agents Hub.
- If true: AI-Assisted Reviews is not available to select for any cycle until both are enabled. See Set up AI-Assisted Reviews.
- If not: See If It Still Fails below.
Fix
Fix for: the cycle is on the legacy experience

Fix for: the company-level settings are not enabled
- Enable Feature Settings > 15Five AI > AI-Assisted Reviews.
- Enable Performance Reviews AI in Agents Hub.
- Return to the cycle's settings and select Enable 15Five AI.
Validate
The cycle's Review experience in this cycle setting shows Enable 15Five AI after saving, and writers included in the drafting audience see the new review experience when they open their review.
If It Still Fails
Contact the 15Five Support Team with the cycle name, when the cycle was created, the current review experience setting, and the name of a writer who is seeing the legacy experience.
Not Covered Here
This article does not cover cycles that are using the new review experience but have no AI drafts, which is a separate symptom. See Troubleshoot: A review writer has no AI drafts. It also does not cover how to choose a review experience during setup. See Configure the review experience for a cycle (Admin).
