Create and manage a career goal using growth plans

The "growth plans" tool in 15Five's Career Hub feature allows employees can create, track, and view their personal career growth goals and associated actions. Growth plans enable employees to drive their own career growth, increasing meaning and purpose on an individual level and employee retention at an organizational level.

How to create a career goal 🧑‍💻

  1. Click Career Hub in the main, lefthand navigation of 15Five.

  2. If you're a manager, click My Career Hub in the top, right-hand corner of the page. Otherwise, skip to the next step.

  3. In the top navigation bar, click to open the "Growth plan" tab.

  4. You'll be led to "My growth" page. Click Create your own career goal.

  5. Choose the skill that you'd like to develop. Then, click Next.

  6. Set small, measurable actions that will help you achieve your goal. When you're done, click Next.

  7. Set time targets to keep yourself accountable, and decide how often you'd like to be reminded of your goal via in-app notifications (optional).

  8. Click Create goal.

  9. A popup will appear in the top, right-hand corner of your screen confirming that the goal was created.

How to update progress 🚀

Career goals can be updated from within your Check-in, from the "Growth plan" tab in Career Hub, or in the Objectives tab. Usually, people update their goals from within their Check-ins, so that's the process we'll cover below. For instructions on how to update progress in other locations, please see the FAQs at the bottom of this article.

  1. Click on Check-ins in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation.

  2. Open your current Check-in by clicking Fill out Check-in to its right.

  3. Your career goal will appear in the "Objectives" section at the top of your Check-in. Choose whether you're On track, Behind, or At risk, and mark actions as "Complete" as progress is made.

How do I edit or delete a growth plan?

If you need to make edits to a growth plan or delete it entirely, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the "Growth plan" tab in Career Hub.

  2. Click on the name of the career goal you want to edit/delete.

  3. The following editing options are available:
    • Edit the goal's timeframe by clicking the date at the top of the box

    • Edit an action by clicking on the textbox

    • Delete an action by clicking the three dots to its right and selecting "Delete"

  4. To delete an action, click the three dots in the top, right-hand corner of the action box and select "Delete."

How do I update a career goal from within the "Growth plan" tab in Career Hub?
  1. Open the "Growth plan" tab in Career Hub.

  2. Click on the name of the career goal you want to open settings.open-Career-Goal.png
  3. From here, you can provide a status for your career goal (on track, behind, or at risk) and mark actions as complete.

How do I update a career goal from within the Objectives tab?
  1. Click Objectives in 15Five's main, left-hand navigation.

  2. Use "Objective owners" filter to select 'My objectives' and the "Objective type" filter to select 'Self-development.'

  3. Your career goals will appear in the "Objectives summary" section of the page. Mark your actions as "Complete" as progress is made.

  4. To change the status (on track, behind, or at risk), click on the current status and select the new one from the dropdown menu.

  5. To mark an incomplete action as complete, click the current status to its right.
