Add a Termination Date via Bulk CSV Import

Use a bulk CSV import to add termination dates to multiple employees at once. When the import completes, termination dates appear in each employee's account settings and feed into HR Outcomes Dashboard turnover reporting.

Before You Begin

  • You must have access to the Manage people page.
  • Your import file must be saved in UTF-8 CSV format.
  • Identify which Employee Identifier your company uses: email or employee_id.

Steps

  1. Click People in the left-hand navigation.
  2. Click the Import tab in the top navigation bar.
  3. Create your CSV file with a column for email or employee_id (whichever matches your Employee Identifier setting).
  4. Add a termination_date column to the CSV.
  5. If you are also deactivating employees in this import, add an is_active column and enter false for each person being deactivated.
  6. Click Choose file at the bottom of the page.
  7. Select your CSV file from your computer.
  8. Review the changes on the Preview import screen.
  9. Click Finish import at the bottom of the page.

Imports may take up to 15 minutes depending on file size. Once complete, termination dates appear in each employee's profile in 15Five.

If Something Goes Wrong

Issue Check Fix
File fails to upload Confirm the file is saved as UTF-8 CSV, not Excel (.xlsx) or another format Re-save the file as UTF-8 CSV and re-upload
Termination dates don't appear after 15 minutes Check the Import tab for an error report Correct any flagged rows and re-import only those rows
Wrong Employee Identifier column used Confirm which identifier your account uses under Settings → Account Rename the column to match your account's selected identifier and re-import
Employee not found during import Verify the email or employee_id value matches exactly what is in 15Five Correct the value in the CSV and re-import the affected rows
