Bulk importing lets you create many objectives at once using a CSV file instead of building them one by one. When complete, imported objectives appear on the Objectives dashboard.
Before You Begin
- You must have an Account Admin role. Managers and employees cannot access the bulk import tool.
- Objectives must be enabled for your account.
Steps
- Click the Settings menu at the upper right corner of your 15Five account.
- Select Features from the dropdown menu.
- Click Objectives.
- Click the Import tab in the top navigation bar.
- Click Create new import.
- Click Download template to download the CSV template file.
- Open the downloaded template in a spreadsheet application.
- Add your objectives data to the template, following the column requirements shown in the Prepare your CSV section on the import page.
- Save the completed file in UTF-8 format.
- Return to 15Five and click Create new import.
- Select your saved CSV file. The import starts automatically.
- Review the upload results on the confirmation screen.
- If corrections are needed, click Start over to discard the upload and repeat from step 10.
- If the upload looks correct, click Publish [#] objectives.
- To undo a published import, find the import on the Import history page and click Revert import.
> Tip: Even if you already have OKRs in a separate spreadsheet, download the template first and move your data into it. This ensures your columns match the required format before uploading.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| CSV upload fails or produces errors | Confirm the file is saved as UTF-8, not UTF-16 or plain CSV | Re-save the file as UTF-8 and re-upload |
| Columns are not recognized | Compare your column headers to those in the Prepare your CSV section on the import page | Copy headers exactly from the downloaded template |
| Publish button is not available | Check that no row-level errors are flagged on the review screen | Correct flagged rows, re-save, and re-upload |
| Revert import is not visible | Confirm you are on the Import history page, not the review screen | Navigate to Settings > Features > Objectives > Import to find import history |
