Use this article to create a 1-on-1 agenda with another 15Five user. When complete, the new agenda opens in the 1-on-1 agenda wizard, ready for talking points.
Note: 1-on-1 agendas between you and your direct manager or direct reports are created automatically by 15Five. You do not need to create these manually.
Before You Begin
- Your Account Admin must have enabled 1-on-1s with anyone in feature settings before you can create an agenda with someone outside your direct manager/report relationship. See 1-on-1 permissions and visibility — what each role can see and do for details.
Steps
- Go to 1-on-1s in the left navigation bar.
- Click Create a new 1-on-1 in the top-right corner of the My 1-on-1s page.
- Type the name of the person you want to meet with in the search bar.
- Select the person from the search results.
- Click Create a new 1-on-1.
The agenda wizard opens. Click Start crafting my 1-on-1 to build the agenda from scratch, or use the talking point resources shown to guide your first meeting.
The new 1-on-1 agenda appears in your My 1-on-1s list and the agenda wizard is open — this confirms the agenda was created successfully.
Key Rules
- Only the direct participants of a 1-on-1 can create, schedule, and end the meeting. Admins cannot create or manage 1-on-1 agendas on behalf of others.
- The Create a new 1-on-1 button does not appear for people outside your direct team unless 1-on-1s with anyone is enabled. Contact your Account Admin to enable this setting.
- This feature is available on the Perform, Legacy Focus, and Total Platform pricing packages.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Create a new 1-on-1 button is missing | Confirm whether 1-on-1s with anyone is enabled in feature settings | Ask your Account Admin to enable 1-on-1s with anyone in feature settings |
| Person's name does not appear in search results | Confirm the person has an active 15Five account | Ask your Account Admin to verify the person's account status in 15Five |
| Agenda wizard does not open after clicking Create a new 1-on-1 | Check for browser errors or a stalled page load | Refresh the page and navigate back to My 1-on-1s; if the agenda was created, it will appear in the list |
