Pass up a Check-in answer to your manager

Pass up a Check-in answer to add it to your own current Check-in so your manager sees it when they review your submission.

Note: Requires access to Check-ins. Available on Perform, Legacy Focus, and Total Platform plans.

Before You Begin

  • You must have permission to view the Check-in containing the answer you want to pass up.

Key Rules

  • You can pass up answers from any Check-in you have permission to view — including direct reports, anyone in your reporting hierarchy, and anyone whose Check-ins you follow.
  • You can pass up answers from the Priorities and Questions sections only. You cannot pass up answers from the Objectives or High Fives sections.
  • The person whose answer you pass up receives an in-app notification.
  • If you do not submit the Check-in the passed up answer appears on, the answer rolls over to your next Check-in automatically.

Steps

  1. Go to Check-ins in the left-hand navigation.
  2. Click the tab for the Check-in you want to access: Team's (your direct reports and their reporting hierarchies) or Everyone's (all Check-ins you have permission to view).
  3. Open the Check-in containing the answer you want to pass up.
  4. Click ... to the right of the answer.
  5. Select Pass it up from the dropdown menu.
  6. Optionally, click Comment on the passed up answer to add context for your manager.

- Comments are public to anyone who can see your Check-in by default. To make a comment private, check Private comment to... and select your manager's name.

What You Should See

After step 5, the answer refreshes to show it was added to your Check-in. On your current Check-in, a Passed up questions section appears. Click Show to the right of that section to expand the original answer and any comments. Your manager will see the passed up answer when they review your Check-in.
