Select an Employee Identifier in 15Five

Account admins can configure whether 15Five uses email address or Employee ID as the unique identifier for each employee account. When complete, the selected identifier governs how employees are matched during CSV imports, SFTP transfers, and HRIS integration syncs.

Before You Begin

  • You must have Account Admin access to Company Settings.
  • Review the impact of switching identifiers before changing this setting on an account with existing users.

Steps

  1. Click Settings in the bottom-left corner of your 15Five account.
  2. Select Company settings from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click the Company info tab.
  4. Expand the Import settings section.
  5. Select Email or Employee ID as the employee identifier.
  6. Save your changes.
Note: After saving, confirm the Import settings section displays your selected identifier. That is the only UI confirmation provided.

If Something Goes Wrong

Issue Check Fix
Import settings section is not visible Confirm you are on the Company info tab, not another Company Settings tab Navigate to Company settings > Company info, then scroll to Import settings
Employee ID option is grayed out or missing Confirm your account role is Account Admin, not HR Admin Contact your Account Admin to make the change, or request a role change
Bulk import shows a duplicate or empty ID error after switching to Employee ID One or more employees in the import file have a blank or repeated Employee ID value Correct the Employee ID values in your CSV before re-importing; 15Five will display an error message identifying the conflicting rows
