Connecting Gusto to 15Five requires three sequential actions: generate an API key in 15Five, enter that key in Gusto, and match employee accounts across both platforms. When complete, the two systems begin syncing employee data automatically.
Before You Begin
- You must be an admin in both your 15Five account and your Gusto account.
- The Public API must not already be enabled in 15Five. If it is, skip to step 5.
Steps
Generate an API key in 15Five
- Click the Settings gear in the bottom-left corner of 15Five.
- Select Integrations from the dropdown menu.
- Click Enable to the right of the Public API option.
- On the Company API keys page, click Create new key.
- Enter a short, identifiable name for the key, then click Save.
- On the Company API keys page, locate and copy the access token.
> The Public API key is 32 characters long. The SCIM key is 30 characters — do not confuse the two. Your API endpoint is my.15five.com unless your account uses a custom subdomain.
Enter your API key in Gusto
- Sign in to your Gusto admin account.
- Navigate to App Directory in the left sidebar and select 15Five under Performance.
- Click Connect.
- Paste your 15Five access token into the modal, then click Continue to setup.
Match employee accounts
- For each employee listed, click Select an option next to their name.
- Choose one of the following options:
- Add as a new employee — creates a new Gusto profile and adds them to payroll. - Don't match in Gusto — excludes the person from the integration without affecting their 15Five access or data. - Match with existing Gusto account — links their 15Five account to an existing Gusto profile.
- Click Match accounts.
The integration is now active and syncing employee data between Gusto and 15Five.
If Something Goes Wrong
