SCIM must already be configured between Okta and 15Five before you can push groups. You can either push a new group from Okta to 15Five or associate an existing Okta group with a group that already exists in 15Five.
Before You Begin
- SCIM provisioning must be enabled and connected between Okta and 15Five.
- Only group ID, name, and members sync from Okta to 15Five — no other group attributes transfer.
- Groups created in 15Five and imported to Okta cannot be edited or deleted in Okta. Manage them in 15Five.
- Create groups in Okta first, then push them to 15Five. This avoids the read-only limitation on 15Five-originated groups.
Push a new group from Okta to 15Five
- Open your Okta instance and create the group.
- Click the Push Groups button in Okta.
- In 15Five, go to Settings > People > Manage groups.
- Confirm the group appears under the Groups group type.
- To move the group, drag it to a different group type.
> Changing the group type in 15Five does not get overwritten by future SCIM syncs. Only ID, name, and members sync.
Associate an Okta group with an existing 15Five group
When an Okta group name exactly matches a 15Five group name, pushing the Okta group overwrites the 15Five group's membership — it does not create a duplicate group.
- In Okta, create a group with the exact same name as the target 15Five group (for example, Leadership).
- Add the correct members to the group in Okta.
- Click Push Groups in Okta to push the group to 15Five.
- In 15Five, go to Settings > People > Manage groups and confirm membership updated.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Group changes are not appearing in 15Five | Changes may not have synced yet | Run a force sync in Okta |
| Group appears as read-only in Okta | Group was created in 15Five and imported to Okta | Manage the group in 15Five; it cannot be edited in Okta |
| Pushing a group created a duplicate instead of updating membership | Okta group name does not exactly match the 15Five group name | Delete the duplicate, correct the Okta group name, and push again |
| Force sync does not resolve the delay | Unknown sync issue | Contact 15Five Support with the group name and the timestamp of the last sync attempt |
