Notion - Integration Overview

The Notion integration connects your Notion workspace to 15Five AI, bringing the plans, documentation, project updates, and shared knowledge your teams create into 15Five's context layer.

By incorporating information from selected Notion pages and databases, 15Five Agents can better understand organizational priorities, project context, and the work happening across teams. This additional context helps generate more relevant insights, summaries, and recommendations while keeping managers and employees aligned around shared goals and initiatives.

The Notion integration helps turn organizational knowledge into actionable context for 15Five AI.

With Notion connected, Agents can:

  • Understand plans, strategies, and project documentation maintained in Notion.
  • Surface relevant context from shared knowledge and team documentation.
  • Connect work and initiatives to the people contributing to them.
  • Identify themes and patterns across selected content.
  • Incorporate organizational knowledge into AI-powered insights and recommendations.
  • Provide greater visibility into the information teams use to plan and execute work.

How Access Works

The Notion integration uses a page-based access model.

When connecting Notion, administrators explicitly select which pages and databases are shared with the integration. Only content from those selected pages becomes available to 15Five AI.

Page access follows Notion's native sharing model. If a parent page is shared, all child pages nested beneath it are automatically included. This means teams can grant access to an entire section of their workspace without manually selecting every page.

Access can be adjusted at any time within Notion by adding or removing pages from the integration.

What Gets Synced

Once connected, 15Five AI syncs selected pages, databases, and workspace user information.

Page Metadata Titles, page types, URLs, and parent-child relationships
Timestamps Created and last-edited dates
Ownership Information Created-by and last-edited-by user references
Page Properties Status, tags, and published dates when available

Workspace Users

To properly attribute work and content, the integration also syncs:

  • Names
  • Email addresses
  • Profile avatars

This information is used to associate Notion contributors with their corresponding 15Five accounts.

Historical Activity

When first connected, 15Five AI imports up to one month of historical content and activity. After the initial backfill, updates are synchronized multiple times per day to keep information current.

What Does Not Get Synced

The Notion integration is intentionally limited to content that has been explicitly shared with the connection.

The following are not currently synced:

  • Pages and databases that have not been shared with the integration
  • Content outside the selected page hierarchy
  • Comments and comment threads

Although the integration requests permission to read comments, comment data is not currently ingested.

The integration requests a limited set of permissions to access shared content and associate it with users.

The integration is read-only and cannot create, edit, delete, or modify content in Notion.

Key Rules

Before enabling the integration, it's important to understand the following:

  • Only pages explicitly shared with the integration are available to 15Five AI.
  • Sharing a parent page automatically includes all nested child pages.
  • Content outside the selected page hierarchy remains inaccessible.
  • Access is managed entirely within Notion.
  • The integration is read-only and cannot modify content.
  • Comments are not currently synced.
  • User information is used solely for attribution and account matching.

Common Questions

Can 15Five AI access my entire Notion workspace?

No. The integration can only access pages and databases that have been explicitly shared with it through Notion's page selection process.

What happens if I share a parent page?

All child pages nested beneath that parent page are automatically included in the integration's scope.

Can I change which pages are available later?

Yes. Access is managed directly in Notion and can be updated at any time by adding or removing pages from the integration.

Are comments synced?

Not currently. While the integration requests permission to read comments, comment data is not currently ingested.

Can the integration edit pages or databases?

No. The integration is read-only and cannot create, edit, delete, or modify content in Notion.

How much historical content is imported?

The integration backfills up to one month of history during the initial connection.
