Assign HR Business Partner (HRBP) Role

The HRBP role lets you delegate performance review management to specific people in your HR team — without giving them full admin access. Each HRBP gets access to review cycles, calibrations, and review data for a defined population of employees that you choose.

Before You Begin

  • You must be an Account Admin. HR Admins can do this too, since every HR Admin is also an Account Admin.
  • Someone can't be both an HRBP and an Account Admin or HR Admin.

Steps

  1. Go to the Roles tab. It's on the Manage permissions page in People settings.
  2. Click Add on the HRBP row. Or click Edit on a person and tick HR Business Partner (HRBP).
  3. Choose who the HRBP covers. Pick By Groups, By Managers, By Hierarchy, or any mix.
  4. Save. The role takes effect immediately.

Coverage stays current. When people change groups or managers, the HRBP's access updates right away.

Bulk assignment: You can assign the HRBP role to multiple people at once. From the Roles tab, use the “Add” action to select several people and give them the same role and population in one step.

Assign the role from Manage People

Note: This option only shows up for HR Admins.

This route opens the same edit-roles window as the Roles tab, with the same coverage options.

  1. Go to Manage People. You’ll see the list of active users.
  2. Find the person you want to make an HRBP. Search by name in the active users list, or go to the Roles tab on the Manage permissions page to manage all role assignments.
  3. Click the three dots at the right side. This shows the actions you can do to their profile.
  4. Click “Change Roles”. This opens a modal where you can assign or remove roles for that person.
  5. Check “HR Business Partner (HRBP)”. A population selector will appear below the checkbox.
  6. Choose their population. Click “Select segments” to define which employees this HRBP should have access to. You must select at least one segment. These are the same coverage options as on the Roles tab.
  7. Save. The role takes effect immediately. The HRBP will see review management options for their assigned population the next time they access 15Five.
