Managers can approve a direct report's request to edit a submitted Check-in. When approved, the direct report receives a notification and can edit and resubmit their Check-in.
Before You Begin
- You must have access to Check-ins. This feature is available on Perform, Legacy Focus, and Total Platform plans.
- Your direct report must have already requested edit access — the Allow editing button only appears after a request is made.
Steps
When a direct report requests to edit a Check-in, you will receive both an email notification and an in-app notification. Each contains a link directly to the Check-in.
From an email or in-app notification:
- Open the email with subject line "[Name] wants to edit their Check-in" or the in-app notification.
- Click View Check-in in the notification.
- Click Allow editing on the right side of the Check-in.
From the Check-ins navigation:
- Go to Check-ins in the left-hand navigation.
- Click the Team's tab.
- Locate the direct report whose Check-in needs to be reopened.
- Click ... next to their Check-in.
- Select View Check-in from the dropdown menu.
- Click Allow editing on the right side of the Check-in.
What Resolution Looks Like
After you click Allow editing, your direct report receives both an email (subject: "A Check-in is now available for editing") and an in-app notification with a link to their Check-in. They can now edit and resubmit.
If Something Goes Wrong
| Issue | Check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Allow editing button is not visible | Confirm your direct report has submitted an edit request — the button only appears after a request is made | Ask your direct report to request edit access from their submitted Check-in |
| Notification link does not open the Check-in | Confirm you are logged in as the direct report's manager in 15Five | Log in with the correct manager account and navigate to the Check-in manually via Check-ins > Team's tab |
| Direct report did not receive their notification | Confirm their email address is correct and check their notification settings | Ask your direct report to check their spam folder; verify notification settings in their account |
